Wonder By R J Rolacio Sparknotes
In the book, “Wonder” by R. J. Polacio, there is a very moody teen named Justin. He has vast qualities and a lot of them stick out to me. I noticed that he is a shy person, but he also has a strong personality. He has been through a lot, like his parents getting divorced, him playing the lead role in a concert, and even seeing August. Many people go through a lot, but that doesn’t mean they are weak, nor does it mean they are strong. Justin is pretty neutral overall. I would also say he is a relatively sensitive person, because he became extremely upset when he found out that Via used to be friends with Miranda. Overall, he has lived a tough and troubling life. He is a survivor, and in this essay I’m going to show you how his life gave him these personalities. …show more content…
The book states that his shyness comes naturally, as in the book, before he meets Via’s parents he says his tics come out, which is one of the signs he is nervous. Justin states in his chapter, “all day long I’m nervous about it. and when i get nervous my tics come out. i mean, my tics are always there, but they’re not like they used to be when i was little: nothing but a few hard blinks now.” he later says,” i’m definitely stressed about meeting her folks.” He is very shy and nervous. Despite this, he also doesn’t let people judge him. For example, if you were to call Justin a nerd on the playground, or tell him that he’s bad at sports, you would regret your life choices, dude. He doesn't let anyone judge him, as proven in his chapter. Olivia judges him by saying he’s shocked upon meeting August. “you’re shocked,” says Via, repeatedly in the chapter. Justin was, but he denied it every time she said it, rather than giving up. This shows his strong personality, but that doesn’t mean words can hurt. Lastly, he is also

In the novel Wonder by R.J. Palacio, we, the readers, see parts of August’s life and how it changes through the eyes of his two friends. Summer, one of August’s friends, discusses how people always ask her why she hangs out with “the freak” so much, to which she replies, “[b]ecause he's a nice kid!”(Palacio 119). Although Summer treats August with respect, people still think of him like an alien, unable to see him as a normal human being with a facial defect. This demonstrates how Summer stands up…

Wonder by R.J Palacio was the best book I’ve read last year. The story was fascinating and gave you angels that some people might not have been able to see. The book was putting you in different shoes and even though its one story that you are reading it depending on the person you realize more and more what is happening with the characters. Although it's fiction it takes into account reality, which teaches you something. Unlike other fiction books that I read it summarizes what we are as people…
