The above is the catch phrase of the World Smile Day. This is the day to forget all sorrow and be happy. No one is sad on this day. Certificates titled ‘You have been smiled’ are sent out all over the world.
Last year I was given a project on the ‘Power of Smile’ in school. Making ppts is something I really love. So, I did thorough research on the project and got a lot of useful information and now I want to share this with you.
All of us are familiar with the smile face, aren't we? This was originally developed by Harvey Ball. The smiley became world famous and was featured on TV. But, Harvey Ball felt that people were misunderstanding the original thought behind the image.
He decided to set up a World Smile Day.
We celebrate World Smile Day each year to recall the original “mission” Smiley had, that was to reflect what we all hope to see in the face of others – a SMILE. Smiley helps us remember and use the power of a smile.
A smile is nothing but a natural expression that shares our happiness with others. And the best thing about it is that it can be given free!
So, from 1999 World Smile Day is celebrated every year on the first Friday of every October. This year it was celebrated on 4th October.
Just because it comes only once in a year it does not mean that we should not smile on other days. In fact, Harvey Ball himself once said that we must make every day a world smile day.
I would like to conclude this with a short poem –
“The Power of rage can rise inside
Until it tears you apart.
But, the power of smile
Can heal sad hearts.”
