You Just Don’t Understand
Deborah Tannen is the author of the novel, “You Just Don't Understand: Women and Men in Conversation.” In this book, she talks about the various meanings of communication between men and women. Her studies show that men and women use compatible expressions and somehow can still have different reactions and responses to phrases of similar meaning.
Tannen found that most men like to take control in a conversation and see it as a competition. They then try to “preserve their independence” anyway possible. This movie was the tell of thirteenth century Scottish hero named William Wallace who suffers the loss of his one true love and is involved in a war for his independence. William Wallace was a great example of how a boy was wounded by the death of his father at a young age. From that day, he felt as if the only way to stay connected with his father even through death was to fight the battles that he fought and became a war leader. He wanted to feel as if he belonged.
