Carl Robins was hired on as the new campus recruiter for ABC, Inc. Due to a multitude of errors on his part, he appeared to underestimate the job description and the duties involved. Apparently Carl Robins was hired for a position with excessive responsibilities for him to manage. As a result, Carl’s lack of organization, preparation, and attention to detail became obvious. Although he was successful in hiring fifteen new recruits, he does not possess the necessary organizational nor time-management skills to complete the hiring process required of him.…
Mr.Carl Robins is currently encountering several issues in his new role as the new campus recruiter for ABC, Inc. Mr. Robins was hired in at ABC Inc. and has been with the company approximately six months when he was tasked to hire 15 new trainees. These new trainees are to work for Monica Carrolls, who is the operations supervisor of ABC Inc. Mr. Robins has run into several issues during the hiring process of these 15 individuals. Ms. Carrolls has also neglected to follow up with Mr. Robins to ensure he was accomplishing the task that had been assigned to him. The largest problem is Mr. Robins is unprepared for orientation; he failed to notice that several trainees’ applications were incomplete, several trainees’ files were missing transcripts, and mandatory drug screenings were not completed on any of the new trainees. In addition to those problems Mr. Robins needs 15 completed orientation manuals, and he has not found a reasonable place to hold orientation for the new trainees. As we analyze this situation, we will observe issues that Mr. Robins has had, training issues within the company, and lack of mentoring by his management.…
The first problem, the training room is already booked for June 15. The easiest solution for this problem would probably be to move the training date to the first week in July when the training room would be available. Another solution would be to rent a training room at another facility to accommodate the training needs for June 15.…
Depending on how long this orientation is going to last and if there are other training rooms available in the facility, Carl can resolve this issue fairly easy. If the orientation takes one day and there is no other training rooms available, Carl could ask Joe if he can use the training room for that day. It’s not a guarantee that Joe is going to agree and is Joe really going to want to change skip a day of the training seminar because of someone else’s mistake. If there are no other training rooms available or Joe does not agree, Carl can explain the situation to Monica Carrolls and the company supervisors, and ask if it is possible they can rent a conference room from a local venue. If the company supervisors frown upon that idea because it is going to cost the company extra money they might not agree with that idea. Carl can also see if he can have the trainees come in on Saturday, sure the new trainees will not complain if they are really interested on getting this job. If all does not work out it seems like the orientation is going to be moved to the first week of July. But this can look very bad on Carl. With only six months on the job it is possible that he can lose his job. It also looks bad on the company because the new trainees are expecting to start working for Miss Carrolls in the beginning of July and could be possibility for these trainees to be employed somewhere…
Once he is done looking at the new trainee files Carl checks the orientation manuals and realizes that there are only three copies of the manual. Carl is supposed to have at least…

New Hire Orientation could be the first training a new employee has to go through when starting work in a new place. This makes it almost more important than any other training, considering the fact that this is the first “real” time, besides previous interviews or the candidate’s own research on the new workplace, when the company “meets” the new employee in person. This first time should reinforce the employee that she made a good choice when applying to work for this particular company. The NEO is also a tool for a company to put their best foot forward and make the employee feel welcomed in her new environment. “A comprehensive orientation process gives new employees the feeling that the organization expects them, which in turn makes them glad they joined the company.1…

The ethical and legal controversy surrounding drug testing, has left employers and employees questioning the appropriateness of specific testing programs.…

The tests typically are pre-employment testing, reasonable suspicion testing, routine fitness testing, post-accident testing, random, and follow-up testing (Carrell & Hearvin, 2013). To effectively give an employee or applicant a drug test, the person will relieve a letter from the employer that states the time, date, and location of the test. On the day of the test, the employee will have to provide a sample of their urine or hair at the workplace or clinic (Carrell & Hearvin, 2013). Once this step is complete, the sample is collected and then sent to a laboratory, in which a chain of custody form is used to ensure that the sample is not tampered with. The test results are then reported to a medical review officer, in which they interpret and evaluate an individual's positive results as it relates to the workers’ medical history (Carrell & Hearvin, 2013). If the results are positive, the employee will have to have a confirmation test, which will be sent to the…
