Google generates revenue through advertising, Google does this through a keyword advertising company it launched in late 2000 called Ad words. This service provides individuals and company’s the ability to create an advertisement, select key words which they believe would best capture their product, their advertisement will then appear on each search result when users the words the companies have chosen in their advertisements. The cost of advertisements is paid as a cost by click basis. This has proven to be extremely lucrative for Google, its advertising revenue in 2008 was roughly 21.1 Billion US dollars.

Google Inc is large company with many stakeholders with many of them having conflicting interests, it is highlighted below some of the events that key stakeholders found troublesome and considered problematic.
Firstly The rapid rise of Google is what threatened governments, like France, Germany and Japan. Governments were wary of the fact that Google controlled which information reached its users and in what form. As Google was a US born company, countries were fearful Google would bring a US dominance over their individual culture via the information it was supplying it citizens.
