Should School Districts Go To a 4-Day School Week How does a 4-day school week benefit students? Many school districts in the US have started implementing 4-day school weeks into their schedules. The schools that have started doing 4-day school weeks say that their students have had better attendance and are more involved. Students also have more time on the weekends to do homework and projects. School districts believe a 4-day school week provides more opportunities than a 5-day week, because teachers have more time in the classroom with the students, and they have more time on weekends to plan and grade, plus students earn better grades.     Changing the five day school week has been argued for and against due the controversy as to whether or not it would actually be beneficial to students and teachers. When approaching the idea, many people would like to believe that five day school weeks are the most efficient and productive way to educate our youth. What is often overlooked, however, is that it is causing students to dread school more than they already do, and lessen their willingness to be in or attentive at school.
