CM spoke to Ms. Quinones (caregiver) regarding schedule CFT meeting for today, 4/5/17. CM was informed that youth has a scheduled IEP meeting on Monday, 4/10/17 at 9:00am. CM and caregiver rescheduled CFT meeting to take place at the IEP meeting. CM will be present; caregiver stated IIC will be present as well. Caregiver noted youth has been emotional such as crying for no reason due to her new medication. Caregiver contacted Dr. Dellert to discuss this matter and as a result, youth is not on any medication. CM and caregiver talked about youth challenges in the school. In conclusion, my goals for the upcoming week will be challenging. My students need the changes and accommodations. In literacy, my goal is to make writing fun for the students. It is sad that they view it as a chore. Encouragement is also important in literacy so that their confidence grows. I can see this when students read with me. CNMT 410 was an interesting class to learn about the professional workplace. The discussions on time stealing interested me the most since I had no idea what some employers consider stealing time. Besides the discussions I learned a lot about producing quality work. Before this class my resume and cover letter would’ve been a joke. Most likely I would’ve taken a generic resume from Google. The resume wouldn’t have been very personal or showcase my experience. There would have been the exact same problem with the cover letter. I had no idea before this class that the cover letter was meant to be a personal letter from myself to the hiring manager. Responsive to participant needs. On their first day in our program, I make every effort to me4et and greet our clients, the parents as well as the children. I ask the parents if they need any special requirements, accommodations, or modifications to better service their children. Before the child enters the classroom, I make sure they know they are included. I post a welcome sign for each new child and their cubby is already labeled so they know where to store their belongings. Once the child has entered the classroom, I take another child and introduce them and then we all take a tour of the classroom. This gives us a time to get to know each other, I can find out their likes and dislikes, observe their interactions with other children, and begin to plan their development.…
The teacher is responsible for assessing children to see what level they are on, and monitoring their progress and achievements by a certain time. My role is to support the pupils in achieving these goals and to support the teacher through giving feedback after a learning activity has taken place. The teacher will need to know about every child’s progress and achievements so that they can prepare their end of year reports, hold parents’ evenings etc. Assessing the pupils’ progress is an ongoing process throughout the year. In my setting, we use ‘Post-it’ notes on a pin-board, with a space allocated for each pupil, and pin up any goals they need to reach. When the pupils have achieved their goal, the note is dated and filed away in the appropriate part of their personal report file, which will be typed up for the parents by the end of the school year, using the information on the ‘Post-it’ notes inside. The class teacher plans lessons that set out clear objectives so that pupils’ progress can be measured. Both pupils and support staff are made aware of the objectives and any achievements will be recorded and reported back to the teacher. Before each learning session, the pupils gather in the ‘Quiet Room’ for an introduction to the learning activity, and the teacher will explain what is expected of them and what they will be learning in that session.…

AA meeting was a very good learning opportunity for me and I benefited from it greatly I was amazed on how normal all the people looked and it really signified that honestly anyone could become and alcoholic and it can really mess up your life and make you so dysfunctional and take your life away I was amazed by all of their stories especially the story about how one of the men said that god is the only answer and it made me really realize that he is really and work in that place. I also saw a person that looked almost my same age and he had already been homeless and shot up heroine, it really blew my mind how many people in there were heroine attics. The classroom environment which I am student teaching is in a general education fifth grade class. There are 26 students ranging in ages 10-11 years old. When starting a new school year a teacher has new students whom they have to get to know pretty well. Prior to this new year, the teacher should have all of their expectations and goals in order; this includes the state standards and school standards. This introduces the idea of Developmentally Appropriate Practices, where teachers want to make sure that the goals they choose are difficult for the students but are also reachable goals as well (2009). Teachers have a good understanding for the grade they are teaching, meaning they can predict what a group of students are capable of and what practices to try to get the most development from their students (2009). Teacher: I try my up most to talk to the teacher after the lesson to discuss the progress of pupils whom I’ve been working with. There are times when I have expressed a concern on the seating arrangement within the classroom and other behavioural matters that I have felt need to be addressed, the teacher has often given further direction in where they want me to support in the room. I’m always really keen to receive feedback from the teacher about how they felt I worked with the pupils, how I could improve my role within the lesson, sometimes I have been encouraged to work with groups of pupils, therefore I have gone away and looked into different ways of delivering certain tasks and how certain pupils work better together.
