His duty now was to lead his men on the final attack on the germans in France. He and his men went and caught the german army off guard and made them retreat to Germany. He was called a war hero and got great fame. His men loved him as a leader and fought with him in France.
Later in life, the war was over, he came home and got a job training men. He was stationed in the Philippines. He liked the climate and enjoyed the culture. He got a vacation and went home to the United States and got married. He went back to the Philippines with his family to work, and become a General. Communism was spreading like crazy in the east and the west. Douglas was sent to stop it from spreading in South Korea. First he was driving the North Koreans out of South Korea but then China entered the war. Douglas didn’t know what happened and a soon as he knew, it was too late. Douglas asked President Harry Truman to station more troops in South Korea but Truman turned him down and asked him to come home. He came home as a hero but he wasn’t done. He disobeyed orders and went to South Korea. Truman figured him out and told him he was fired for disobeying orders and to come home. The people didn’t like Truman for doing this but it had to be done. He came home and people greeted him as he came off the plane but not as much as before. He went home with his wife and family and helped as a military advisor under president
