Respiratory therapists take their job very seriously when it comes to their patients’ health. They perform diagnostic tests, such as measuring lung capacity, as well as teach patients how to use treatments and equipment, such as ventilators (Bureau of Labor Statistics). The therapists always check up on them and record all information regarding their health and well being. When it comes to money, respiratory therapist make about $57K median annual salary (Bureau of Labor Statistics). If a respiratory therapist were to go beyond what is required of them degreewise, they could make up to at least $80k(Bureau of Labor Statistics). Rose State is a local junior college. The reason I desire Rose State is because of the location, which is in Midwest City, and also because the tuition is affordable. The requirements for admission are a high school diploma and money for fees, which are $3,225 + 1,000 for books (Startclass.com). 43% of college students require financial aid so that they are able to continue their education. my major is respiratory therapy. some of the classes I plan to take for my major are: Ethics and Health care Systems, Respiratory and Pathology, Respiratory Pharmacology, Respiratory Physiology, Pulmonary Diagnostic (HSRT). I currently do not plan on going for my masters or doctorate degree. From information I have gathered I estimate it will take me about two years to become a respiratory
