Everyday companies try to persuade us to use and buy their products. They use many different modes of media to do so, from magazines to television commericals. But the big question is, “how do they actually get us to buy these products?” Through relatability of course! Modern day society feels the pressure to buy things that “average people” can have or use. As Americans we enjoy things that are made specifically “for us” and companies like Ford uses advertising to persuade us in believing that they can relate the most to the people. It’s a way for us to relate to the ad. The more realistic of an approach the companies make to make the product seem like anyone can use it the more we want it. Look at this ad taken from the September edition of People Style Watch magazine. It 's an ad for the new Ford Fiesta. The ad shows close up pictures of key things people look for in cars now a days. For one they show that the GPS navigation screen is 6.5 inches in diameter. Which means a wider screen for people to look. This is a plus because Americans love things that are bigger. There is also a picture of the cup holder in pink lights. This shows that the car has a feature that allows you to personalize it. We love having things that show aspects of our personality, another plus that’s going to draw attention to this car. It also has a back up camera, which is viewed as a great invention that should be in every car because it sees more than the average eye. They also have a picture with a couple and their dog, right there it is saying that the car is family friendly. First Ford does a good job by placing this ad in a magazine. This alone shows that they are trying to target a certain group of people. The way they set the ad up you know they are trying to appeal to a younger audience. Not only, by the fact that they strategically set up the ad as though it was a scrapbook page but also they refer to it as the fiesta movement. Young adults are always
