University of the Philippines is the most prestige university in the country. U.P. Diliman, its main campus, is said to be a campus that offers a whole new world, environment and culture to the students. It has different sets of people that form the student organizations.
Student Organizations, according to the Office of Student Activities in U.P., are groups of students that have the same interests and goals. These organizations in U.P. are grouped as academic, alliance, cause-oriented, community service, dormitory association, fraternity, sorority, regional/provincial, special interest, sports and recreation and religion. Fraternities and sororities are considered organizations too, as long as there are 15 members and above that meet regularly, they are recognized by the university as an organization. These organizations play a vital role in their members’ lives, as what the book Assessing and Improving Student Organizations: A Guide for Students implies. They serve as training grounds to create students that are academically and socially excellent. Also,
Because of this, the officers of the organization would find it easier to maintain order in their organization and also would make it easier for them to keep up with their members. As the organization officers, they must have care for their members. In the journal Seeing Fraternities in a Larger Frame, it says there that fraternities or organizations in general should realize their role inside the campus and in their members’ lives and they should strive hard to make their organizations an integral part of the university through being an excellent and productive groups for the
