Statement 1: “The airport transfers passengers and freight between ground and air.”
I agree with statement 1 as stated above. The airport is a facility or a ‘gateway’, which bridges passengers and freight from the ground to the aircraft, which brings them through the air. At the destination, another ‘gateway’ meets them, and bridges them from the air back to the ground. The “gateway” uses many other facilities and/or services to ensure a seamless transfer of passenger or freight between the ground and air.
An airport is a whole host of facilities and services combined together to ensure the complete, safe and smooth function of aircrafts arriving and departing from the airport.
To the community, in an economic sense, it brings local products out of the country, and hence income back into the country. Without which, not much income could be received as products will not travel far enough to satisfy international demand, and there may not be as much demand in nearby places where trucking is possible. The same airport also brings in products from other countries which are needed locally, but due to lack of resources are not as easily produced or not produced at all.
The airport energizes the electronics industry as it makes possible for the entry and exit of high demand electronics equipments, such as, handphones and computers. It is vital for electronics to be shipped by air as such products are time sensitive to the fast moving electronic industry that progresses quickly.
To the general community, an airport provides many jobs for the people in the country, providing income for families. Many companies send their employees for training, thereby equipping them with valuable knowledge and experience, enabling them to use their expertise in various areas required for the running of the airport.
