Animal Testing Over 100 million animals are burned, crippled, poisoned, and abused in United States labs every year. These animals have no say or choice to be put through such an inhumane thing. Humans would not want to be caged up and poked with needles, so why treat animals that way? Animal testing is cruel and harmful to them and it should be banned in all laboratories. Humans and animals do not have the same bodies. Animals are much smaller and could react to a drug a completely different way. The Food and Drug Administration report that 92 out of every 100 drug passed during animal testing, fail in humans. The animals being tested on are not sick, but the humans receiving the drug are either sick or just want something to fix their wrinkles and make them look prettier. Innocent animals are being hurt and even killed because of these tests. Some animals are going into surgery without anesthesia. Many different animals are used for scientific studies; such as cows, dogs, cats, pigs, mice, rabbits, and primates. It is unethical to put a thinking, feeling animal in a lab cage to intentionally cause them pain, loneliness, and fear. According to the Humane Society, registration of a single pesticide requires more than 50 experiments and the use of as many as 12,000 animals. The animals are sometimes reused, which affects the outcome of the test. This will cause a false reading and will most likely need to be performed on a different animal. If the animal doesn’t die from a previous test, scientists may wait so long to test on that animal again. But even if they wait, how do they know that drug tested before is completely out of the animal’s system? Another test may be constructed to see if the poison has completely disappeared. In the event another test is constructed, scientists are just wasting time when this animal could be set free. Animal testing is unethical, unnecessary, and wasteful. Even animals that are
