Block4 Animal Testing Essay Animals Testing causes animals to become abused, vicious, and stressed out. Animal Testing wastes about $3 trillion on health care. The United States ranked forty-second in the world for life expectancy and infant mortality. The effects of the tests are not similar because animals are different than humans. Animal lives are being wasted because scientists still use Animal Testing even though they do new drug tests on humans. I believe that Animal Testing is wrong because animals are unreliable test subjects, also animals do not have a choice, and animals are not protected/treated fairly. Animals are unreliable resources for testing because the FDA has noted that 92% of all the drugs used in animal testing that have passed to be safe , but have failed on humans. …show more content…
For example in “Flowers For Algernon” Algernon did not have a choice and that led to his death. Algernon was given tests and new drugs and that made him smarter, but at the same time his brain was deteriorating. Algernon did not want to take the drug , but he was forced to take the drugs and the tests. After that Algernon became vicious and did not want to eat, and he was acting different. In “Flowers For Algernon” it shows how much of a choice animals had in Animal Testing. 95% of animals used in experiments are not protected from the Animal Welfare Act. This states that animals can be experimented on only under certain circumstances, so that they won’t be abused or mistreated. Scientists didn’t follow the circumstances ,so this led to animals not being protected and mistreated. For example scientist inject drugs into an animal against their will. Also animals are not in their normal habitat, they are usually in a cage which stresses them out. To conclude animals are not protected and are not treated fairly by
