A long time ago, animals were used for numerous purposes, and one of those uses is utilising them in scientific studies which known as "Animal Testing". According to Oxford dictionaries, animal testing refers to experiments involving the use of animals. As reported by the national centre for biotechnology information (2011), animals were used regularly in scientific biomedical researches in the past by Greek and Arab physician scientists, including Aristotle, Erasistratus, Galen, and Ibn Zuhr. Animal rights activists claim that animal testing was a must in the past, especially when there were no alternatives to living beings in such scientific researches, so they argue …show more content…
To illustrate, scientific findings from animal researches indicates that various essential processes of a living cell are the same in all living beings, and that the bodies of animals are like human bodies in the way they perform many vital functions such as breathing, movement, hearing, digestion, and sight, as the global resource for scientific evidence in animal research (2012) claims. In addition, Bulger (2014) argues that the internal structure of the cell is mostly the same in all kinds of animal beings, which makes it clear that animals are perfect models to study human's body structure and cellular processes in living beings. Moreover, to test potential forms of treatment, an in-depth examination on living beings must be operated firstly before human trials can take place. For instance, medicines, diagnostic tools, and implants are safe and applicable on human beings only because they were tested and developed on animal beings before (global resource for scientific evidence in animal research, 2012). So, it is obvious that animal testing is a significant step to reach an essential scientific finding, all the way from discovering basic cell processes to the development of potential forms of
