Animal Testing Is Cruel And Inhumane Essay
Animal testing is cruel and inhumane. Animal testing can de dreadful to them and their species. Testing can cause death within them and wipe out their species if tests keep happening in the world today. Main reasons that animal testing is hurtful to animals is that testing drugs on them are not safe, tests can mislead researchers into ignoring potential cures and or treatments, 95% of the animals that were tested on are not protected by the Animal Welfare Act, also animal testing is more expensive than alternative methods, religious traditions tell us to be merciful to animals, and lastly most of the tests are flawed and wasting the lives of the animal subjects. Animals that are keep in horrible conditions for experiments are usually force …show more content…
Finding cures or treatments for humans is a vital part of life but not at the cost of sacrificing the lives of other animals and the future of their species. Animal testing to find cures is wrong and causing more deaths of animals every day. Researchers have shown that when putting animals in harm’s way it is beneficial to humans but also killing the animals. Many drugs that are used in experiments on the animals are aspirin, and Tacrolimus, which was used to lower the risk of organ transplant rejection. Many researchers have doubts about the drugs because it was taken off the shelve due to the harmful effects it has on …show more content…
The AWA protects animals from experiments but doesn’t cover rats, mice, fish, and birds which is composed over 95% of the animals used in research. In 2010, 1,134,693 animals were covered under the AWA, but it also left around 25 million other animals that were not covered. Without the protection of the AWA most of these animals would be vulnerable to mistreatment and abuse.
Animal tests are expensive than other alternative methods and also a waste of researcher’s and governments money. When there is an unscheduled DNA synthesis animal test, the costs are around $32,000, while the in vitro alternative costs $11,000. A rat photo toxicity test costs $11,500, where non-animal tests cost $1,300. Testing on the animal’s costs lots of money, that can be used for more important things that is going on with the world today. Researchers are only allowed a $31 billion annual budget on animal research, which should not be allowed to hurt

Overall, animal testing is erroneous because it does not contribute anything meaningfully to the world. When animals are tested often the results are irrelevant, due to the fact, animals have many differences from humans. Also, the animals endure poor conditions. Lastly, the animals’ lives are wasted by being tested on products that are not important. Testing animals is abusive and needs to…

Rammy Mekhilef Mr. Drake H Lang and Comp April 20th, 2009 Animal Testing for Research ' Pro side The death of one dog vs. saving the life of many diabetic humans. Which would you pick? Diabetes caused many deaths before insulin was discovered from the pancreas of a dog. After insulin was discovered, it could be injected into the bloodstream to keep the insulin level high. Along with this, much of our medicinal discoveries are experimented on different types of animals. Many people support the banning of experimentation of animals but what they are really supporting is the hindering of scientific advancement. We would not be where we are today without futuristic discoveries without making few sacrifices. One of these sacrifices is the lives of animals. As long as the animal has the capabilities of providing new information, and is not an endangered species, it should have approved usage in science laboratories and departments. Scientific testing on animals should be legal because it provides valuable information, it is safer, and it develops medicinal discoveries. A lot of valuable information comes from testing medicine and other sciences on animals. “Testing drugs in animals before doing so in humans helps researchers find potential toxic side effects, as well as understand the metabolism of drug compounds and consequent effects seen throughout the body” (Cook). Scientists rather would have toxic side effects appear on animals rather than the drug appearing on the market with people unaware that the drug is actually harmful. Also, animal testing is surprisingly one of the most advanced types of research we have today. Other methods are not advanced enough because researchers do their best to keep the kill count low, while also being beneficial to science. Only 6% of animals who are used for research actually experience pain (Animal Testing Facts: Home). Science research should be tested on animals because it is much better than being tested on humans and…

Animal testing is rarely successful since animals have different physiologies than humans. There has been many studies that have shown inaccuracy and unsuccess in animal testing. Studies show, “90 percent of medications approved for human use after animal testing later proved ineffective or harmful to humans in clinical trials” (Stop Animal Testing) and also, “Animal-tested drugs have killed, disabled or harmed millions of people and lead to costly delays as well” (Stop Animal Testing). It is evident that animal testing lacks accuracy and has dangerous consequences, therefore it should no longer be…

There are a lot of bad things that happen in this world and Animal Testing is one of them. Doctors,Scientists and other people test on these animals everyday. In my opinion there should be no animal testing at all. It is cruel. Right now there are millions of animals sitting in cold cages waiting for their next painful procedure. The stress, sterility and boredom causes them to develop neurotic behaviors such as, biting themselves and running around in circles. Most of these animals are killed after the testing because there is no possible way for them to live after this has happened. More than 100 million animals suffer this torture. Exact numbers have not been found, in rats, mice, birds, and cold blooded animals take up about 90 percent.…

When it comes to the topic of animal testing, most of us will readily agree that it is a debatable topic. Where this agreement usually ends, however, is on the question of whether it helps researchers to find new drugs and treatments suitable for humans. Whereas some are convinced that it does help researchers find new drugs and treatments, others maintain that some drugs tested on animals may never actually be useful or even safe for human consumption. In my own view the results of animals testing are unreliable because animals and humans are not genetically or anatomically alike to one another.…

‘’a drug to fight Ebola had showed remarkable success when tested in rhesus monkeys.” (Trull,2015) “More recently, animal research has helped pave the way toward restoring vision.” (Trull,2015.) “ Thanks to the work of scientists and physicians at Duke University, an experimental new treatment for glioblastoma multiforme, or GBM--an aggressive tumor that kills about 12,000 people in the U.S. each year--is saving the lives of patients who, just months ago, had little hope of survival. This extraordinary development wouldn't have been possible without animal research.” (Trull, 2015) However, about 90% of approved animal tested products don’t make it out of the lab, for they don’t work on humans. A lot of testing on animals is unsuccessful, and most of the time when it is, it doesn’t work on humans. This evidence shows that animals are different than humans and testing on them won’t help…

The first reason animal testing is not good, is that it harms animals. According to Ian Murna, after research the animals are killed. Animal testing gets animals sick. It gets animals sick because some of the drugs that the scientists use for animals may not be healthy for them (Animal testing 101). The world is so nervous about animals going extinct, then why do we use them for testing then? Animals are kept in small cages (Animal testing 101). Animals need to move around just like humans, how is that fair to them, animals have feelings just like humans.…

Every year millions of animals are subjected to horrible unethical experimentations in order to advance medical science. Dogs, cats, monkeys, mice, and other animals are kept in dark rooms in cages while being exposed to various toxic and poisonous substances daily in order to test how the substance may react in humans. These poor creatures suffer from inhumane treatments and are denied any form of happiness, and these experiments should cease and alternatives should be used instead. Animal testing is a cruel and ineffective medical practice that produces unreliable results and those laboratories should use safer alternatives that will provide more accurate results.…

Each year, millions of animals suffer and die in the process of inhumane testing for the purposes of drug and chemical research, and medical experiments and training exercises. Animals including cats, dogs, rabbits, and mice are force fed harmful substances that are infected with lethal viruses causing reactions like brain damage, strokes, and heart attacks. Not only are these experiments painful to the animals and sometimes fatal, but also they fail to accurately reflect human reactions and are not required by the FDA.…

    Animal Testing Flaws

Animal testing has always been a dispute between people; some people think it’s morally wrong and some people think it helps with medical and scientific breakthroughs. Drugs that people use or cosmetics that are used could have been tested through animals before being stocked on shelves. About 800 animals are tested on before a drug is passed to clinical trials (“Is animal”). Many animals get tested on, but many like mice, rabbits, hamsters, monkeys, dogs, cats, pigs, and some other animals get tested on. Animals can be used to find new advances in medical treatment and check safety for products, but these animals that get tested on can go through pain and death. Animal testing is wrong and should be stopped because…

More than 100 million animals are poisoned, burned, crippled and abused in other ways in U.S labs each year. None of the experiments which are performed are illegal, no matter how cruel it is. Even when alternatives besides animals are available, the law doesn’t require that they should be used. 92 percent of animals of experimental drugs that are safe and effective in animals fail in human trials because they don’t work or are too dangerous.…

According to the California Biomedical Research Association, “Scientists use animals to learn more about health problems and to assure the safety of new medical treatments. Medical researchers need to understand health problems before they can develop ways to treat them. Some diseases and health problems involve processes that can only be studied in living organisms.” However, there are other ways to test cosmetics and medicine. For example, a possible way to find results for eye irritation and corrosion is to measure using three-dimensional human equivalent systems like EpiDerm and SkinEthic. This can put an end to cosmetic and medical animal testing. Someone with a different perspective may say that animals like chimpanzees and mice share at least 98% of DNA with humans. This means that these animals are prone to many of the same health issues that humans may have. On the other hand, this does not mean that we can kill or murder harmless animals. Animal testing is toxic to animals and violates their…

One of the many reasons that animal testing is wrong is that it is abuse to the victims. Not only mental abuse for the animal but physical abuse as well. Many animals result in alterations in behavior, physical appearance, and in many cases death. More than “100 million animals are used for testings and thats about 274,000 per day or three every day” (according to animal testing & science- the facts). “7,342 mice each day or every 12 seconds are used for testing” It’s ridiculous how many animals are getting hurt because of animals testing when in reality we’re losing so many animals each day. First of all animal testing is cruel and an unjust treatment for animals it’s a horrible way to find out if your product is functional. An example of a test is how they find out if the products work is called the “ praize eye test” (for shampoo) which means that scientists “clip open the bunnies eyes sometimes for multiple days so they can not blink away the products being tested. ”(animal testing.…

Due to animal testing, Animals have been tortured and killed for centuries, which is why it should be outlawed. Animals should not be used as test dummies for experiments that may not even work in the end. Most of these experiments are useless and waste the lives of innocent animals. This type of treatment is malicious and unjust for animals. Although some animal testing has created life-saving cures and treatments, it is still unfair and wrong because it’s cruel and inhumane, there are better alternative methods and it’s bad science.…
