Why Is Animal Testing Wrong
“The question is not, can they reason nor can they talk, but can they suffer” said Jeremy Bentham,an english philosopher. Animal testing has been a controversial topic for many years. Some people believe that animal testing is beneficial, while other people feel as if animal testing is cruelty. Many people who are against animal testing have created organizations to spread awareness for people who do not know much of this topic such as in books and websites. Animal testing is abuse to the victims and is not very beneficial.

One of the many reasons that animal testing is wrong is that it is abuse to the victims. Not only mental abuse for the animal but physical abuse as well. Many animals result in alterations in behavior, physical appearance, and in many cases death. On the website DoSomething.org it cites¨Over 100 million animals are burned, crippled, poisoned, and abused in US labs every year.¨ This comes to show how animals are mistreated during these times. This also shows how animals are affected.

Animals have different functions then the human body, therefore, a cure that might work on them does not mean it would work on the human anatomy. At procon.org it states¨ Animal tests do not reliably predict results in human beings¨. It also states ¨94% of drugs that pass animal tests fail in human clinical trials.¨ This proves that animal testing for medical research does not work 100% all the time for humans. Animals also do not get the same sicknesses and diseases as humans do which is why most of the time the results are

There are a lot of bad things that happen in this world and Animal Testing is one of them. Doctors,Scientists and other people test on these animals everyday. In my opinion there should be no animal testing at all. It is cruel. Right now there are millions of animals sitting in cold cages waiting for their next painful procedure. The stress, sterility and boredom causes them to develop neurotic behaviors such as, biting themselves and running around in circles. Most of these animals are killed after the testing because there is no possible way for them to live after this has happened. More than 100 million animals suffer this torture. Exact numbers have not been found, in rats, mice, birds, and cold blooded animals take up about 90 percent.…

Others believe that animal testing has “contributed to many lifesaving cures and treatments.” According to (Animal Testing) “The California Biomedical Research Association states that nearly every medical breakthrough in the last 100 years has resulted directly from research using animals.” Some people are highley for animal testing for this reason. One believes that animals are the reason why we are still here today, just based on the fact that we could run experiments and learn new things. One also believes that there is no other way to test on a whole-body system besides humans. Some even say that animal testing is beneficial to the animals, thus saying that humans can help the animals when they experiment and test on…

The first reason animal testing is not good, is that it harms animals. According to Ian Murna, after research the animals are killed. Animal testing gets animals sick. It gets animals sick because some of the drugs that the scientists use for animals may not be healthy for them (Animal testing 101). The world is so nervous about animals going extinct, then why do we use them for testing then? Animals are kept in small cages (Animal testing 101). Animals need to move around just like humans, how is that fair to them, animals have feelings just like humans.…

In addition with no enforced laws, animals produce different results than humans. For instance, lead in w/transition “Even within the same species, similar disparities can be found among different sexes, breeds, age and weight ranges, and ethnic backgrounds” (“Results from Research…” n.pag.) The research people are doing will have an unlikely result in succeeding and or curing because they do not consider different characteristics of animals. Even with animals of the same species, there is no guarantee that all outcomes will be the same. Examine results show, “Animal studies are flawed by design. In addition to the fact that animals make poor surrogates for humans, the design of animal experiments is often inherently flawed, making it that much more unlikely that results obtained from such studies will be useful” (“Results from Research…”n.pag) The experiments we use on animals have no impact on human lives because even though animals have a similar body structure, they do not always correspond with the human anatomy. Scientists should put in more consideration with size, shape, skin, and different ways breeds function.…

Animal testing is cruel. In conclusion, it needs to be stopped. As previously stated, we are hurting animals when there are other ways to go about it. Animals are living, breathing creatures that have rights and should be protected. They don’t deserve to be hurt anymore than we do. For example, they can feel pain, and sadness just like we can, so in what way does it make it right to harm them for our own benefit. That makes us selfish and rude. Animal testing is cruel, and mean, and needs to come to an…

Animal testing is bad because it deals with the issue of animal cruelty. It is often argued that these tests cause a lot of pain to the animals and the condition in which they are held captive for experimentation is not at all safe nor healthy for the animals. It also causes animals suffer for the rest of their lives and then they die. This means that afterwards animals aren’t any more active in doing their own things because all of them get locked and stay in cold, barren cages in laboratories and so therefore they can do nothing. But on the other hand there are some people who say testing animals is a good idea because both animals and humans benefit for animals getting experimented…

Animal testing is a very controversial practice, involving the testing of new substances on animals to see how safe they will be for human use. (Vasen, 2011) Research has uncovered many cures for deathly diseases through animal testing. For over 2000 years cures for diseases such as Herpes, Hepatitis B, Rabies, Malaria, Polio and other such viruses have been created, through the use of testing the chemicals on animals such as mice, rabbits, cats, dogs or monkeys. (Shandilya, 2011) Animal Testing holds much criticism, and gets much scrutiny from anti Animal-Testing groups such as PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) and CAAT (Coalition to Abolish Animal Testing). The controversy behind animal testing is that there are so many petitions against animal testing and some people go as far as to not consume products like toothpaste or…

Scientists use animals to attempt to find more about living things and about the illnesses that affect them. When looking at animals, typically vertebrates, it becomes possible to obtain important details that can be hard to find by any other way. For example, a new surgical method or medicine is found, most think it is wrong to first test it on another human because it could potentially inflict harm on them. Because of this, these things are typically tested on animals to make sure that it is safe and that it successfully fulfills its purpose. Animal testing is ethically wrong because we are placing millions of animals to life in a laboratory to cause them pain and fear against their own will.…

It also saves many lives of others and cures many diseases. Lastly, animals are almost the same as humans in many different ways.…
