Those who do self-harm might feel better after they hurt themselves, but they get an urge to hurt themselves again. Self-harm can make someone feel like they have no choice but to hurt themselves, but there is other ways to cope. Those are some of the most common excuses people use. The sooner that those who self-harm ask for help, the less pain it can cause them. There is no exact number for those who suffer from self harm but a survey among college students said about 17% have suffered from self-harm or still do.
