While Marine Corporal Robert Johnsmiller recalls his hand grenade experience “A Japanese hand grenade landed next to me. alerted by my buddy to 'roll', I quickly moved my body as it went off". Wounded, he kept crawling forward until he reached a trench. He looked into the ditch and saw a Japanese soldier looking up at him. He pulled back and signaled to his comrades."We quickly dispatched grenades into the emplacement and silenced the threat". The corporal’s only grenade wound was a lost eye.
There were also many terrifying roaring artillery, and deadly mechanical tanks made that changed the tide of war forever. The artillery normally would soften up enemy lines so they could break through. They also would protect the coast from planes and boats. The Axis and the Allies also made smaller artillery that were lighter and could be transported to fire at tanks and troops. These are just a few ways that the artillery changed the war forever.
There were also many tanks made like the German Tiger, Panther, and Panzer. The Americans also had some well made tanks such as the M4A1, Light M3, or the giant T28 Super Heavy Tank.
