1. Service users suffered gross neglect such as little or no support to wash and shower, left for hours in wet and dirty beds and refused to help. Also service users are forced to share rooms. (Care Standards Act 2002)
To prevent neglect of the service users the manager can employ more staff, to make sure the care home is not under staffed because if there are not enough staff, then service users will be neglected of good quality care. i.e. A staff member may have the responsibility of taking care of many service users and the staff member will feel stressed, tired, and not meet the needs of all service users i.e. service users may be left for days without being feed, bathed or taken to the toilet and this will impact the service user emotionally/ psychologically making them depressed. Also training staff efficiently can give the staff more knowledge on their role as a service provider and help them provide a better service to the people at the care home. Also the manager should also get involved and make sure the employees are meeting the care needs of the service users. This is why the Care Standards Act (2000) (refers to legally required national minimum standards of care provision that health and social care organisations must achieve) this law make sure everyone has equal and fair treatment in any care organisation, now the Care Quality Commission checks weather they meet the national minimum standards.
2. Share rooms in cramped and dirty facilities; food was low in nutrition, little choice, and no provision for religious preference or people who need special diets. Also services users are unable to feed themselves were ignored, some actually on the verge of starvation.
