All my life, I have been playing football. Every single Friday since I was young, I have gone to support the Bethel Park football team under the lights no matter what. Weather, distance, and access to a vehicle never stood in my way. Each player was a role model for me, and I wanted to be just like them. In my younger years of playing, I was just known as the “average” football player; I was slightly above “bad” but slightly below “good”. As I grew older, I started to talk to varsity football players, and I asked them about their own experiences. I wanted to know what they were like when they were my age and how they got to where they were. Some were just like me, not standouts as kids but still very good athletes. It was “crunch time”. I stayed after school every day of the week lifting weights and running hills because I knew that my shot was coming soon.The older I got, the later I would be for dinner because I knew time was running out. I would always go to bed so late because I would be up all night doing my homework. Eventually, sophomore year came, and my hard work paid off. My childhood dream came true - I was on the field in front of hundreds of fans. However, I only played special teams., but I wanted more. Junior year came, and I was finally a starter. Though I started, I knew there was still more room to improve on my abilities and contributions to the team. Now, senior year is here, and I am a captain. I am one of the leaders that everyone else on the team looks up to, which has been my true dream all along. It’s crazy to think that I am now one of those role models for young children that are just like how I was when I was their age, but I’m loving every minute of
