Behaviour Policy
All children and adults are treated with equal concern and are made to feel welcome in my home. I aim to offer a quality childcare service for parents and children. I recognise the need to set out reasonable and appropriate limits to help manage the behaviour of children in my care. By providing a happy, safe environment, the children in my care will be encouraged to develop social skills to help them be accepted and welcome in society as they grow up. I do not, and will not, administer physical or any other form of punishment with the intention of causing pain or discomfort, nor any kind of humiliating or hurtful treatment to any child in my care. I endorse positive discipline as a more effective way of setting boundaries for children. I keep up to date with behaviour management issues and relevant legislation by taking regular training.
I agree methods to manage children’s behaviour with parents before the placement starts. These are discussed with parents during initial visits before the contract is signed to ensure appropriate care can be provided. Wherever possible I try to meet parents’ requests for the care of their children according to their values and practices. Records of these requirements are agreed and kept attached to the child record forms. These records are revisited and updated during regular reviews with parents.
I expect parents to inform me of any changes in the child’s home circumstances, care arrangements or any other change which may affect the child’s behaviour such as a new baby, parents’ separation, divorce, new partner or any bereavement. All information shared will be kept confidential unless there appears to be a child protection issue.
I offer regular review meetings with parents to discuss their child’s care and any issues or concerns, preferably when the child is not present. If I do not share the same first language as the child’s parent, I will find a way of communicating effectively with them. This may

I will be producing a welcome to my setting booklet. Within this I will outline some relevant legislation, if there are any language barriers this will be helpful to take home and use google translate or Babel fish for on line translation. During our first meeting I would talk about the children act 2004 and that I adhere to this by treating all children as individuals and with equal concern .I will treat all children and their families with respect and in a fair way, I will not discriminate and will have inclusive practices, I believe every child is different and special in their on right and would hope to help build their own sense of identity and self worth and in doing this encourage their own ideas, opinions and independence .The children will be kept safe by using health and safety guidelines, food hygiene, child protection and safeguarding. They will enjoy and achieve by taking part in learning activities suitable and enjoyable to them and achieving end results. I would show them my paediatric first aid certificate and also my personal emergency plan and first aid box. I would inform the parents that their information is kept in a secure area and remains confidential and it would only be shared between them, myself and Anjum, I would be clear that the only exception to this would be if I had such concerns that I would need to instigate the safeguarding procedure and sharing information with parents could jeopardise the safety of the child. I would need the parents to sign a photographic permission slip to keep on file. The early years foundation stage underpins all activities and routines I will be setting, I would explain it is a central part to the childrencare act 2006 and aims to help children learn and develop through their own individual needs and interests. For Anjum I would be taking her to groups ,so she could interact with others, I will develop a routine to help her feel safe and…

They may eat different foods or the parents may have specific roles, for example the father may be in control and decision making would primarily go through him. These differences may have an impact on how the setting approaches the parents and/or how they cater for the child. Showing respect for the child’s family cultures can be achieved by carrying out home visits, where the practitioner can gather some background information on the child and family. The setting could also invite parents in to talk about their culture or invite them to make the different food dishes so that the other children can try and learn about them. Working closely with parents is important because they have a right to be involved in their child’s care and education. It is important to recognise parents as the child’s first educators and respect their contribution. This can be done by involving all parents, even those who seem to be more difficult than others. A setting has a responsibility to keep parents involved by informing them of the child’s progress throughout the term, their day to day well-being and showing them the different activities they have been taking part…

To establish positive and productive relationships with families I believe it’s very important to keep communication open. Families have the right to know: the program goals; philosophy; expectations for children, families, and staff operating assumptions and practices that will accomplish the goals’ and how resources are allocated to achieve goals. There are several ways I will communicate with the families about these things and what might be going on with their child. Some vehicles of information I may use might include notes, journals, conferences, documentation panels, displayed planning forms and objectives, web pages, and meetings. I will also talk with…

Introduction Most of teachers ' correction time is taken up with children with behaviour problems, emotional and developmental problems (Pirola-‐Merlo, 2003, p. 139). In order to achieve efficient learning in schools, it is essential that teachers are aware of the number of discipline theories available, and have considered which approaches are best suited to their classroom setting. This paper uses a table to discuss nine behaviour management theories, analysing them with regard to their strengths and weaknesses. A second table outlines the appropriateness of each theory when used in the different Secondary school Stages and is elaborated upon further to explain the decisions made.…
