Betsy Ross Monologue
Betsy Ross my friend and neighbor was telling me all about the marvelous man whom she apprenticed for his name was ,William Webster, Betsy was a great sewer and credits William with everything she knows. After the delightful tea we both walked home to our homes which were next to each other, we both lived in the type of houses which looked like you were royalty but on the inside you had nothing, all I had was myself and my children, all Betsy had was John and a thread and needle. We lived in Philadelphia, at the time it was noon on August 25th, 1775 it was strangely cool for the end of August. Betsy went home to see John Ross, her husband, and I went home for my children. John can never come to tea because Betsy is a quaker and John is not, they eloped by a river on a summer day 3 years ago, and also …show more content…
Betsy and I did not meet again until I heard crying next store, I jumped out of bed to make sure my dearest friend was okay, she was not. I was told that her husband, John Ross, had died in an ammunitions explosion. I checked on her every single day to make sure she was okay she always said the same thing “Yes Sarah I am fine as long as I have my thread and needle!”

I could not imagine how Betsy was feeling, John was always happy, he was funny, he always loved Betsy, and he would do anything for anyone else, it was horrible to see him gone.

I was the only one Betsy ever talked to after John's passing except for on a sunny day, September 5th it was about 60 degrees out, it was beautiful, the weather made me feel like everything was okay even though I felt something was wrong. I was next door cleaning and I heard a man talking to Betsy, the man was George Washington, the leader of the Virginia army talking to my bestest friend! I did not hear much of their conversation but I did hear about a new flag for the colonies and I also heard the General Say “This flag is strictly not to be shared with anyone else” my first thought was I need to know about

We don't look at the flag seeing Betsy Ross’s name on our heart. Nor do we see that she is a fourth generation Quaker. Growing up in the Griscom household with 17 siblings, she was well educated and took to sewing. Robert Morris traced Betsy’s history back to being one of the first settlers. He stated that this explains Betsy Ross’s free sprit. During her teenage years Robert Morris portrays Betsy as a rebel. In 1773 Betsy meets John Ross, as he was working as an apprentence in the same tailoring shop as Betsy. No one can say the exact day the couple made a decision to marry, but for the consequences they knew were to come could no better yet to understand the couple must have been in-love. On a cold winter evening of November 1773, the couple took a leap in faith, crossed the Delaware River to and was proposed man and wife. Her family and community disowned her due to her husband’s religious affiliation, being of the Church of Christ and not a Quaker, and she was forced to leave. A Robert Morris point out the Church of Christ community was not as wealthy as the Quakers. Betsy took to sewing but found that material was hard to come by because of the Quaker controlled textile industry, from which she was expelled. John Ross was a guard for the community and Betsy took to sewing flags. John Ross passed away protecting his community leaving Betsy a window at the age of 24. Betsy had several clients and Robert Morris points out that George Washington was one of them. While working on a project for Mr. Washington, he notices that Betsy had a skill of her folding patterning, known to us similar to origami. (Toni Ann do side note) George Washington commissioned Betsy to produce a flag. This flag was taken to the State House for approval. She then became…

Do you remember my purpose of coming to Atticus’ place? Well, that is not going the way how I expected. Scout has enough of me, and me too. When she lacks discipline and manner, I would remind her to be more lady-like. She rarely listens to me, she sometimes gets mad and all red when I talk to her. I can’t believe how Atticus taught her, I believe it is because of Calpurnia. She is the black maid in the house, she’s a fair lady, but ain’t a very good female influence for Jem and Scout.…

After thinking about it for about 2 minutes I decided to go to the originals department because I needed to release some "aggression" after today dealing with Damon him thinking that he can actually outsmart me. I'm at her apartment in 4 minutes using my vamp speed the door is unlocked opening it I see the vamp passed out naked in her bed her milky white legs peeking from between her 3000 count silk sheets standing there understood why everybody called her the "immortal beauty" whereas I was just dubbed "The evil vampire slut who only loved herself " which is mostly true I have only loved two things in my 500+ years my family and Stefan Salvatore but that does not mean I'm a coldhearted bitch incapable of love like everybody thinks I am.…

The author took me back to the 1700’s, and made me feel like I was right there alongside Betsy. The story told of Betsy Griscom’s childhood raised with her sixteen siblings in the Quaker Church. Although Betsy knew she would be expelled from the Church and split from her family for marrying outside her faith, she married John Ross when she was 21 years old. The courage it took for Betsy to go against her family’s wishes was inspirational. I could not comprehend how she was able to leave everything she had ever known. The story went on to tell how the two of them began an upholstery business together since Betsy had excellent sewing skills. John and Betsy attended the First Christ Church in Philadelphia, and sat across the aisle from George and Martha Washington. I couldn’t imagine how it would feel personally knowing the man who was soon to become President of the United States. Betsy frequently embroidered ruffles for George Washington’s shirts and cuffs. In June of 1776, she was asked to sew the American Flag by George Washington, Robert Morris, and George Ross.…

I had been upset for a week long about all the drama that had been happening in my suite. The trash hadn’t been taken out, plus Halloween had just passed and there was still dried paint in the sink from one of my roommates that had dressed up and went out with her boyfriend. I remember having told the RA’s about all of it because not only was I sick of the trash not being taken out with ten girls living together, but I knew that our suite’s cleaning lady, Helen wasn’t happy about it either. I felt bad for her because the poor woman had other suites to clean and I didn’t feel like it was fair for her to have to walk into our suite every Monday morning to find overflowing trash that she was responsible for taking out. I heard someone come through…

It was after the pageant, which almost the whole town went to, when I noticed the Finch kids walking on the street; I was drunk and had my switch knife in my pocket. I didn’t know what I was thinking, but I followed them down the street heading to their house after they had declined an offer for a ride, it was incredibly dark and I could barely see anything except the outlines of two children. I then got out of my thoughts and heard them talking about the girl’s shoes, they were going to start heading my way, but my luck prevented that, when they saw the auditorium lights go off. We continued to walk down the street after the girl was convinced she could get her shoes the next day.…
