Boy Scouts Research Paper
What do you think about the Boy Scouts? Is it about how they are all losers that learn knots. To me it was more than that. I made a lot of friends during scouts, and learned many skills. This is the story of my scouting experience, and how it improved me as a person. From my Cub scout experience to the Eagle scout project done in my Junior summer.
I joined Cub Scouts in first grade, and I enjoyed it very much. It was something I could see myself doing for the rest of my time in school. We had activities, all my friends were in the troop, and I got to go camping and learn things. But what really drew me in was the experiences I had. I was ecstatic when I was able to become a boy scout in the 5th grade. And even though many of my friends left Boy Scouts and cub scouts over the years, the experiences still remained, and somehow got better in Boy Scouts.

I got in a lot of trouble for the stuff that I did, and my grades were failing. I like to think that Boy Scouts really set me straight, because after some time in the troop, I treated my parents better and started paying attention to school more.
Another thing that Boy Scouts really helped me out with was made me a better leader. I learned a lot about leadership in my time with the Boy Scouts, and can now take charge of situations when they come up, and can take leadership roles, like during my Eagle scout project.
As mentioned earlier, Boy Scouts led me to some of my closest friends. Boy Scouts taught me to be more social, and have confidence in myself in social situations. Essentially, Boy Scouts has just taught me several important life skills, and I can use these skills throughout my life.
I am grateful for all that the Boy Scouts have done for me. As of now, I have my eagle scout ceremony in a few weeks. It all seems to have gone by so quickly, and it helped me so

In high school, I was involved multiple clubs and groups varying from athletic, academic, and artistic. Overall, the school’s marching band color guard had the largest influence on my personal growth in during the time. At my school, all color guard members are required to complete one season of marching and playing instruments with the band before being allowed to join the guard. Therefore, it wasn’t until my sophomore year that I auditioned and was accepted into the color guard which I participated in for the rest of my high school career. Because there was no recognized team captain, all the girls were expected to step up as leaders not only for themselves but for everyone else as well.…

I have been in 4-H for eight years, in those eight years 4-H has taught me to be a leader, help others, and be myself. I was always shy around new people but 4-H has helped me so much with going and meeting new people that it is not a problem anymore. Being one of the oldest in a lot of 4-H events is taught me, I have to lead all the young ones and set a good example for them. I have been a 4-H camp counselor for four years and have lead many kids. I have had many of them say that I am a role model to them all. If there is one that 4-H has taught me the most it is to help others. In 4-H we do so many community service projects to help out the community. I have helped with many of them every year. A 4-Her is looked at not by what they look like but what they do.…

Participating in Basketball has really changed my life for the better. I have learned how to be on time for appointments and having a coach that pushes us to do the best we can, he has taught me to always give 100 percent on anything that I do. This has also helped me to make the right decisions. Such as getting my homework done before the next day of school, because knowing that I have practice later in the evening, I have to get it done before I go. Participating in Basketball and school clubs has taught me that people are always dependant on you to do what is being asked of you. If I do not show that I am responsible for these extracurricular activities, this shows that I can not be trusted, but by being in these activities it taught me to be responsible for the activities that I perform…

Thankgiving is upon us and I am grateful for the opportunities I have been given to be able to participate in extracurricular activities, especially Boy Scouts. Troop 209 has given me the advantage to take part in endeavors I probably would not have been able to-sailing, rock climbing, and hiking in New Mexico. Being part of my crew has taught me to be prepared for anything, the value of caring for the wilderness, and to never give up. For example, at Philmont, when we hiked around 15 miles, I kept going even though I was exhausted and had run out of water. The sense of accomplishment I felt at the end overrode any feelings of fatigue. Completing badges such as first aid, personal finance, and personal fitness, I have also learned lifelong…

There are as many projects as there are Scout groups, i.e. tens of thousands in the world. These projects are at the heart of the life of the Scout Movement and encompass its capacity of social innovation: for each situation, for each problem, for each need expressed by young people and their community, Scouting proposes different social solutions, all based on the same promise, that is to build a better world.…

Focusing on my effort to become an Eagle Scout, I faced many obstacles but worked very hard and was determined to become an Eagle Scout. On my path to becoming an Eagle Scout, there were many people who doubted my ability and leadership skills. However, I persevered and focused on my goal. From the time I joined the Boy Scouts at age thirteen, I had been hearing about the Boy Scouts and the highest rank that could be achieved. Hearing stories about previous Eagle Scouts that had come through my troop and how highly they were spoken of, gave me the motivation to set a goal to reach that position. There were not many previous Eagle Scouts, and becoming one would set me apart from the rest of the scouts. I remember as a Boy Scout, making a pinky promise with my mother to follow…

Girl Scouting has never been my all-time favorite activity, at certain points I almost despised it because of the connotations it brought. It's cute when you're a little brownie all dressed up in your uniform selling cookies, but once you get to middle school it's very "uncool" to be a scout. My friends in my troop would never utter the words "Girl Scout" at school. If we had to talk about a meeting we would just call it, "IT." Eventually, we gained more self-esteem and cared less and less about what other people thought, and more about what we were doing in Girl Scouting. Many people think it's just about camping and selling cookies, but there are many lessons to be learned in scouts. I have learned countless things from the scouting program. I've learned so much from my troop leaders who epitomize everything girl scouting stands for---friendship, community, and leadership. By working with the less fortunate I have realized how lucky I am to have parents who care about you and your future; even though you may not always want to do the things your parents want you to do…
