Call The Wild Should Be Banned
Have you ever put thought into the value of a child’s education? Reading about a wide range of topics and through many genres helps to broaden and extend the creativity and thoughts of not only adults, but students as well. Many of the people on the school board believe that “Call of the Wild” should be banned in the school district. I believe, however, that by banning books, you are not allowing a student to explore and understand new experiences and ideas. I can support my idea with facts from the article and with facts from the story itself. My reasons for believing that the book should not be banned are that for one, banning books doesn’t allow the students to have an open mind. Second of all, students who once may have been able to relate

The school board is no longer certain fiction books and novels have a place in today’s curriculum. I disagree with this argument due to the following reasons. Oscar wilde once said ‘’ Life imitates art far more than art imitates life.” This quote meaning when life imitates art, reality reflects what had previously been expressed in art (or literature, drama, etc). In many cases that is not always a good thing. For example, in the book “Crank” written by Ellen Hopkins; the innocent, adolescent main character Kristina Gorge struggles of drug abuse.…

I can’t say I’m astonished by the State Board of Education’s decision to ban “To Kill a Mockingbird”. After all, what can you expect from such short-minded people? Such people that regrettably are put in the position to judge what books are moral and fit to be read by young adults. Is it the book’s display of what really happens in the world, or the book’s lessons of protecting innocence and standing up for what you see as right, that makes this book so disgraceful, that we must shelter young minds from?…

To find out that the outstanding children’s book series, Junie B. Jones is banned from some public schools because she reveals behavior that is not suitable for younger viewers is not right. The series of novels has its share of bad grammar, questionable behavior, poor language, and bad decisions. But is that to say it should be banned? Junie B. Jones should be not banned because the behavior she exhibits is normal to that of a kindergarten or first grader. Teachers and school administrators do not particularly care for the novels because they feel it will cause their students to act in a negative manner.”…

The community should not be able to ban books. They could be educational to students, and they would be missing out on that education. For example, Of Mice and Men helped our class learn a lot of the literary elements, and good ways to right books.…

To Kill a Mockingbird, The Catcher in the Rye, and The Scarlet Letter are classic novels that demonstrate sex, profanity, and racism, but what sets these books apart from the rest is the classy way they introduce ideas of sin. Teens of the 21st century are indulging more and more into inappropriate novels. Students are going to school where they are commanded to read books with mindful tactics, sexual content, and vulgar language. We need to help restore youths moral values, and to achieve this we should prohibit certain books from being read and reintroduce the classics alongside new books presenting strong values. Banning books is valid because we may be using books to enhance our children's knowledge, however, books often contain content…

The people who chose to ban this book did have a point, that foul language and violence is not good for a young student to read, but the good in this book should cover up the bad. The foul language in this book was strictly two words, and they were nothing that most students in my school wouldn’t know. As along with the violence, there are video games and movies that have much more intense violence in them, and much younger people view…

All Information i have gotten about this book being banned all support the idea of this book being banned for a main character smoking and some different outlook on religion. Personally i think this is a horrible and no good reason to ban a book from schools where children can sit down and enjoy a book meant to show them an adventure. My personal opinion is that the only time a book should be taken away from people is if the…

For me personally, books should not be banned because it is basically censoring someone else's art. Writers or authors have the right to publish whatever they want. They are just books. People should not get all worked up over a piece of literature. Especially schools. Schools across the country in different time periods banned the novel for the reasons being that it is too vulgar, sexual, and violent for kids to read. (“Banned Book: The Catcher in the Rye”)…

Everyone deserves to enjoy what they like, even if other people don't like it. Some may say censorship is beneficial because it keeps us away from harmful content. But I believe that books like The call of the Wild should not be banned or censored. Censorship takes away freedom from the creators, takes away freedom from the readers, and it’s a pointless thing to do.…

Some parents may think it is not healthy for their child but it’s not their place to decide what is healthy for everyone else’s children. Many children enjoy reading this book and many parents do not see anything wrong with this book. I believe that if a parent believes the book is not something there child should read they shouldn’t ban the book, simply don’t let your child read it. This is a reason I think this book should not be banned.…

At first glance, the debate over banning books appears unimportant. Nevertheless, this debate has divided our nation into those who favor censoring books to protect their impressionable adolescents, and those who argue that education should be open for everybody without interference from the government in restricting the publishing and accessing of these books.…

Books like The Perks of Being a Wallflower, To Kill a Mockingbird, and even the Harry Potter Series have been banned or challenged in towns across America. This may come as a surprise since these books are favorites amongst many as the texts range from educational to simply an enjoyable read. Censorship of books goes back to 360 B.C., but has become more of a problem in recent years. Over 11,300 books have been challenged for their content since 1982 and many people can’t seem to find reason behind it (About). Banning books should be prohibited because banning books creates a curiosity to read questionable literature, violates people’s right to read what they want, and limits exposure to varied messages which allows the reader to understand…
