Candy Cigarette Thesis

The struggle of an American beauty Everyone in the world seem to struggle with some type of obstacle in their life. What matters most is what you do with that struggle. In the picture candy cigarette by sally Mann it shows a young girl who is being deviant to the fact that she is facing hardship and poverty. It also shows how the lack of parental guidance could play a big factor into her struggles. On the other hand, there are evidence that shows that someone is helping them through the struggle and poverty. Her body structure is very strong and stiff. She seems to be crossing her arms in a defensive pose. She is looking straight at the photo person with an intensely cold stare. It might show that she is going through a lot. She is smoking a cigarette in her left hand which indicates that she is around people who smoke. She has a white dress with ruffles that seem too big to fit her petite body. Since she has a petite body, she might not have enough to eat. Her hair is not very mangled and not brushed, which shows she does not take good care of her own personal hygiene. The little girls face is somewhat boney and there obviously bags under her eyes. She has dirt under her nails which shows she may not have good hygiene, which show us that she might not have a home to take a shower in. These shows how she poverty and hardship has really
gotten to her. You can tell by her physically that she is fighting against all the odds that are put in front of her. Children are like sponges and when left to the own devices can turn very awful. The young girl is alone on a country dirt road. There is no house to be seen in the photo which indicates that the parents might not be around or they might be far away from their home. The little girl right beside her has clothes on that doesn’t fit her body either. The one boy is playing on stilts and he has no shoes and his clothes do not fit him either. This shows that they are not having their parents around may impact their lives. Most parents have a mindset of being a protected and being there as a parent should be. As you seen in the photo these children are left to their own devices but some evidence shows that even these three children are living in poverty and lacking parental guidance, they are doing okay.
The young lady has a very shiny sea shell necklace on that looks like sliver. She also has a watch on her wrist. That tells us that someone must be taken care of her. The other little girl has her hair pulled up and her arms look chunky which mean she must be eating. They all have clothes on even though they do not fit. They are also playing on stilts so that also means that they must get the dangerous equipment
somewhere. In totally you could say that poverty can play a role in someone’s life it can with make or break you. In this photo, this girl has the will power to overcome what life throws at her. Even though she was alone and dirty and very standoff ash she can overcome the life that was given to her. That also tells us that maybe even though someone takes care of you, that doesn’t mean you aren’t struggling. This picture could also show us how people want the American dream even at a young age.
