Capstone Project Reflective Report

I received a 2.88 out of 3 on the Capstone Project. . In completing the Capstone Project I was able to demonstrate my comprehension of InTASC Standard Eight. Due to the fact that every student is different, it is crucial to identify a student’s individual needs and find strategies that would help this particular student. For the Capstone project, I was tasked with finding five need-based strategies to help an ELL with his reading. My student particularly struggled with vocabulary. I was able to use cognates as an aide to show him how English and Spanish have similar spelling and pronunciations. This worked well for him because he already had an extensive Spanish vocabulary that needed to be extended tot English. However, since no student is
the same, you must research strategies and find ones that would work best for the needs of that student. If I had another student who struggled with comprehension, I would find a strategy that would appeal to that student’s particular needs and interests.
