In 1990 Fred Turock, Jeremy Taylor and David Turner decided to get together to jointly manage these clubs, with the aim of building up a network of gyms with first class facilities. In 1996 they created the LA Fitness brand and the following year they joined the top ten health and fitness club operators, catering to a wide variety of people of all shapes and sizes and with a huge range of goals. Our first recommendation is to make a deal to buy the clientele list of Cali Fitness. Using their client list we would use the client’s phone numbers and email addresses to communicate to their members directly to offer a discount on membership and to emphasize the same community and programs that Cali Fitness offered. To minimize the fact that most gym memberships are not renewed past trials and first year memberships, we would only buy the client list that has the loyal long-term memberships (A member for greater than a year). This way we can attract the loyal customers that are lost to Cali Fitness and attract them to Gaia Fitness.…

On the first floor are the basketball courts, racquetball courts, aerobics room, rock wall, and swimming pool. On the second floor there is a track that goes around the basketball courts, a large weight room with the cardio machines next to it, and then a free weights area with a few machines off to the side. The first floor tends to be occupied by groups of people. The first floor provides activates for teams or groups, such as a pick-up game of basketball. The aerobics room attracts mostly women with very few men attending the classes. The second floor tends to be more segregated and separated. The cardio machines are a free for all for both genders but the ellipticals are heavily occupied by women. The weights machines are where almost all of the men spend the majority of their time; very little you will find women working out amongst the men on the weight machines. The free weights off to the side are where women who want to use weights mostly go. It is secluded, if you might not know exactly what you are doing or are not in peak physical condition this area provides a more private setting with less traffic. The layout of the gym provides almost everyone with an area they can go where they feel most comfortable. After closely analyzing my field notes for the gym and work scenario, I can agree with the proposal that people perform different behaviors in different situations. At the gym, the setting (front) is a room full of workout machines that people utilize to eventually reach a specific body goal. In this scenario, I play the role of a sporty girl, one who enjoys the adrenaline from running and lifting weights. My audience consists of other sporty individuals who are there for the same reason. The front for my work scenario consistent of multiple desks, one for each individual. At my job, I feel as though I am a “student” versus when I am at the gym, I feel like a role model. This is because at the gym, I am surrounded by people my age, while at work, adults control the flow of the room and I look up to them for guidance.…
