Cell Phone Conversation Scenarios
This type of interview was not done in the presence of both the client and I, but was conducted on the phone. This phone conversation was and still is a serious issue that needed to be talked about with the client. The client's need to activate her medical insurance is important, and I needed her decision on when to visit the welfare office in a timely manner to take care of her current situation. I handled the phone conversation the best way I can, by trying to persuade the client to visit the welfare office within the week, instead of the upcoming week. I understand that I cannot force or tell the client what to do, and that was what I prevented myself from doing. The client listened when on the phone as I expressed by concerns to her, and I did the same as the client expressed her viewpoint. There were no issues during the phone conversation as it ended on a positive note. The client responded to me as I was talking to her on the phone in a calming manner. DG expressed herself on how she felt, and what she wanted to inform me on the phone. She understood that the issue with her medical insurance is important to be address. However, she had her decision made as I express the need of taking care of the need for medical insurance as soon as possible. I was unable to achieve my objective, because the need to fix her medical insurance could not be decided when on the phone. …show more content…

Which is as follows: I explained the client is in Star plus waiver, a 30 day letter was issued from ASH on 1/6/17 and an MDU slot was requested on 1/6/17 and then again on 1/12/17 as I did not get a returned email that Cindy Pollan had already retired. Nor did I get a returned phone call from her voicemail, which was still active. After speaking with other DADS/HHSC contacts, I got your information and we spoke on 1/25/17. This was the date his slot was released. I spoke to the parents and they selected a provider on 1/31/17. Thus me reaching out to Stacy on 2/1/17. This caused an issue, the client cannot return home, ASH needs to dischrge, yet he cannot enroll until 3/1/17 because of the Star plus waiver. I called seeking guidance on if the waiting until the 1st of the month was an HHSC rule that could be reviewed and changed for this special case or was the rule from Medicaid.…

At this point in the conversation Pamela raised her voice and began to discuss issues that she felt she needed assistance with. Pamela indicated that she felt a lack of assistance from SC so SC began to describe the role/responsibility of PCA vs. informal support. Despite SC attempting to diffuse Pamela’s strong feelings, Pamela continued to raise her voice and express great frustration. During this part of the conversation Pamela stated that her mother needs more personal care hours and SC asked if pa had any change in functioning. Pamela reported no changes, therefore SC emphasized the previous plan of including an agency aide or a second friend/family member to act as the DCW on evenings/weekends by utilizing a portion of the hours already in the ISP in order to facilitate respite for Pamela in order to prevent her from becoming further overwhelmed or burnt out. Pamela got more upset and started pointing her figure at SC yelling “I’m not your slave; I’m not your slave”. At this point in the visit, SC left the home so as to reschedule another visit in the near future with POA/DOC/granddaughter, as Pamela was not able to provide necessary information due to her emotional state. Pa did not appear at risk in any way. SC left and called SCS and left a detailed message of what…

The client was a resident of the Davis Child Shelter, her name was Resident S. The interview happened 8/7/15. Most of the residents went outside to play some basketball and football in the afternoon, and she was seeing at the steps alone, and looked distressed. I walked over to her, to see what was wrong. There was no previous interview, and before approaching Resident S, I was not sure about the readiness if she was willing to talk to me. I hoped that the last couple of weeks of building rapport would help, but she did open up to me. At the start of the interview, Resident S was withdrawn and mad/sad that something happened. I was a little nervous walking to her, but I knew she would not get mad at me for it. It could be possible that because it was outside, and away from ear-shot of anyone, she would open up to me more than if I was in the Shelter. As for my appearance, I normally wear “regular” clothes at the Shelter. I believe that helps me build rapport with the residents at the Shelter by putting me on an equal level.…
