George.
We made it past the bracket games, the quarterfinals, the semifinal, and now for the finals. We’ve never felt greater than this. I’ve waited for this moment for such a long time. I’ve always wanted to have a President’s Cup championship. When we finished our first bracket game with a 6-1 win we were easily the happiest girls in the world. Then our second bracket game rolled around, and had a 2-1 win. I wasn’t as happy as before, but we still had a great game. Now for our last game in the bracket, we had a 1-1 tie. But with the tie that still meant we got to move on and advance to the quarterfinals.
“Amazing game ladies! You played with a 110% intensity!” said Coach George and Coach Darrell.
My team and I were ecstatic because we were going to the quarterfinals! It was the best feeling I’ve ever experienced, we might win this championship. Our quarterfinal game came surprisingly quick. When it did we weren’t nervous, and we knew that we could win this game if we played in the moment. We had a 5-0 win, we were thrilled to have that amazing victory, and even more thrilled about going to the semifinals the next week. When semifinals came about we were as nervous as nervous could be. But we knew that we would be able to win the game. With hard work and persistence we ended the game with a 2-0 win. Our hearts were filled with joy. We were going to the finals! Oh my! This came flooding my mind. But we have exactly one week to prepare ourselves for this. We need to work as hard as we possibly can during practice.
“Off to the finals!” yelled my team and I.
At practice we pushed ourselves harder and harder each night to reach our goal of perfection.
When Sunday came I could’ve been the most nervous person on the planet. Knowing I had a lot of pressure on my shoulders made it even worse. We all were so nervous. We all had butterflies and knots in our stomachs. When the time came to do the ‘walk-out’ that’s when it became apparent to everyone that I was very nervous. I could hear my heart ringing in my ears. It sounded like a very loud instrumental song played out loud. My heartbeat got faster and faster every minute closer to the game. I began to hyperventilate because of my nervousness. I felt my stomach drop when I heard the final whistle for us to come onto the field to start play.
As we yell our beginning game chant, “S T, S T O, S T O R M, Lets go! Storm you know! 1, 2, 3, Storm North!”, I become less stressed and start to realize that we can do this.
We start the game, and it was a slow start. We had the ball the majority of the half and were on their half of the field. But that’s when the intensity picked up. The farther and farther we got into the game the more intense it got. After 35 agonizing minutes, the ref blew the whistle for halftime.
“We have this, there is no way we don’t, let’s keep pushing!” said Coach
George.
Now it’s time for second half, 35 more minutes to go.
