According to Teyber & Teyber, (2017) attachment researchers measure adult attachment styles on the dimensions of anxiety and avoidance. This produces four types of attachment styles: secure, preoccupied, dismissive, and fearful. These types are categorized into 4 quadrants based on the levels of anxiety and avoidance.
