After analyzing the hoax “Cheeseburger Oreos” from the Museum of Hoaxes, I am going to describe certain key elements. These key elements include that the hoax/fake involve a pair of guys eating weird combinations of food such as cheeseburger with Oreo, and that they were creating a specific flavor because there is no such flavor. Also, that they are acting like it is an awesome and delicious flavor, which everyone may like it.…

The commercial starts out with a young boy in a tuxedo staring at himself when his mother comes in the room wearing a tan shirt, complimenting how good he looks. The boy rolls his eyes and shows a look of disapproval. The mother notices that her son is feeling upset, so she tells him to not feel bad, and that many students go to prom by themselves, but from the kitchen, his little sister who is coloring at the table replies, “no they don’t.” The mother fixes her son’s black bowtie as he makes his way towards the front door. As he grabs the door handle, his father comes from the other room and calls for his son. When the boy turned around, the father tossed him his car keys to a silver 2013 Audi S6. The boy catches them with one hand, and shows a look of shock. His father then tells him to have fun tonight with a nod of approval.…

They started a “Crash The Super Bowl” contest. It’s genius if you think about it. Doritos isn’t even making their Super Bowl ad, they are opening up a contest for up-and-coming filmmakers for the best ad and then using that as their ad of the year. It also keeps Doritos first and forefront in the minds of customers well before the Super Bowl. In addition, there is a great anticipation for the ad itself due to the fact that all the participants and their family and friends want to see who “won” the ad contest by seeing the ad that is chosen for the Super…

The purpose was to show how this chip is so amazing that a baby will be born early just to experience the “crunch” sensation. The mother expressed her feeling to the dad about bringing the doritos in the ultrasound when she told the nurse, “He’s eating doritos at my ultrasound”. The ending refers to the beginning when the nurse said “any day now”, then the baby comes when the mom throws the chip. Seeing this would make anyone want to try a dorito to see if it is really as wonderful. Making this commercial makes people interested in the the doritos brand and think of the ad when in ultrasounds, maybe even making people want to try…

I recently watched a cheerios commercial that was aired during the 2014 Super bowl back in February. This commercial was different than any other cheerios commercial because it involved an interracial couple and their mixed daughter. In the video, you see the little girl and her mother sitting at the table. The girl starts off by saying “mom, dad said cheerios were good for your heart is that true?” The mother replies, “Cheerios has healthy grains and it helps with cholesterol so that’s heart healthy.” The little girl smirks and walks away. The next scene you see the dad sleeping on the couch with a whole bunch of cheerios on top of his heart. This video received a lot of backlash on YouTube about this interracial couple. One stereotypical…

Picture a vast scope stretching from the Red River Basin to the Plains of Colorado to the Arkansas River to the Rio Grande. Envision the diverse groups of Natives that live on the land peacefully. Imagine the golden Pueblos of the Acoma Indians, the Hogan huts of the Navajo, and the wiki-ups of the Lipan. Then imagine this picturesque view shattered by European imperialism. The Europeans during the 16th and 17th centuries took several different approaches to the New World. The French saw potential business and trading partners, the English sought territory to expand their empire, and the Spanish were much more complex. The Spanish made one purposeful thrust into the New World in the 16th century to claim the industrious Natives as subjects of the Crown and Church. A century later, the Spanish returned to the New World. The Spanish unleashed forces of change that changed the lives of the native people throughout the arena that the Anglo-Americans call the Southwest. The Spanish affected the culture and structure of the Southwest by way of religion, architecture, and agriculture and livestock. This culture shock in the Southwest by means of…

The essay “Crito” is a dialog between Socrates and Crito’s, who is trying to convince Socrates to escape from prison and his ultimate death. Both parties give good reasons on their positions, but it ultimately is Socrates’s decision. The Conversation begins with Socrates questioning Crito, why he is there so early, which he replied that he comes to the prison often and knows the “prison-warder” (43a). He continues to tell Socrates that he could not sleep because his friend is about to be executed. Socrates has not yet drunk the hemlock for there is no execution allowed while Athens celebrates their “annual sea-mission” called the monitor celebration (43c). During their conversation, Socrates tells Crito about a dream he had of a woman that…

I agree with El Chapo becoming a less powerful and influential person. He became sloppy and unfocused. In addition, with his bad demeanor and horrendous actions, he became a person whom shouldn’t have power, or even, respect. Some might object to what was said above, of course, on the grounds that El Chapo is still high with authority in Mexico and many places of the U.S. Yet I would argue that beyond those aspects, he isn’t careful anymore. Nor is he reflecting upon actions that were frowned upon. Overall I believe that El Chapo isn’t a person who should have authority nor is he a person that should be viewed highly on. He isn’t the same as before, being more reckless and careless—an important point given that he was once high and mighty,…

As a high school student, there is nothing worse than taking classes you know you will never use. But, in most cases the average student does not understand the impact of what we learn today on the rest of our lives. In today’s culture of vast travel and communication, the world we live in is getting seemingly smaller. This puts an added incentive on foreign language classes due to the additional doors they open up in the future.…
