The employment turnover rate has increased in such an alarming manner. BIMS has put together Survey for their employees but only 17.3% of their employees have completed it. This is our first look in improving their morale. Levels of measurement are used to help consider the correct option for deciding on when and how to use the data collected. Having a level of measurement to associate with the statistical data brings a critical thinking path to the process. In the case of BIMS and their survey, questions are asked in a specific manner. Questions 1 thru 10 are all qualitative with the exception of number 4, this question asks for a number, giving its type as quantitative. The level of measurement for this variable is a ratio level. It offers a quick glance at where they stand on remaining employees to survey, or change the tactics in finding out why morale is so low. The second type of data in the survey is qualitative. The reason why the survey is conducted is to improve the turnover rating; this type of data is in the form of questions and can only be classified not put on a numerical scale. Although the variables used are ordinal level of measurement and is quantitative. The BIMS survey denotes the data on a scale of 1 to 5 with very negative on the lower end and very positive on the higher end. BIMS management is not able to distinguish the true…

After reading about Plastec within the past three weeks, we have learned that the company is dealing with a high employment turnover rate, and employees with job apathy, whom feel that their present job at Plastec is a dead-end job, believing they have little chance of ever being promoted within the company. Moreover, there has been an issue of male employees telling off- color- jokes, and making sexual comments against women; they did not realize that their actions caused the women and minority employees to feel uncomfortable, and in-turn, seek employment elsewhere. Roy and John, themselves, also passed judgment on the Hispanic women, assuming that the Hispanic women didn’t feel “comfortable” being a supervisor. And to add insult-to-injury, they had the audacity to discriminate against hiring Asian workers, because they were hard to understand. That said, all of the above mentioned discrimination instances, could have caused Plastec to get sued over the lack of diversity in the workplace and sexual harassment, facing lawsuits based on the equal employment opportunity act, which states, discrimination is based on race, gender, or some other factors (Mathis, RL and Jackson, J.H. 2008); specifically focusing on the race and gender discrimination.…
