The Army Professional is defined by the Army Doctrine Reference Publication 1 Army Civilians—we are honorable servants of the Nation, Army experts, and faithful stewards of the people, other resources, and profession entrusted to our care. By our oath, we are morally committed to support and defend the Constitution. By its characteristics of trust, honorable service, military expertise, stewardship, and spirit de corps; we as Army professionals are responsible for acting as a “steward of the Army Profession while adhering to the highest standards of the Army’s ethic.” The ADRP 1 describes the Army culture of trust and its inherent relationship with the Army Ethic, the heart of the Army Profession, inspiring and motivating our shared identity

The mission of the JAG Corps states that we are to provide principled counsel and premier legal services, as committed members and leaders in the legal and Army professions, in support of a ready, globally responsive, and regionally engaged Army. As paralegals in the Army, we are professionals that are known for our specialized knowledge. Commanders and others soldiers look to us for guidance regarding various legal matters. With continued education, we develop and improve our warrior tasks and remain proficient and knowledgeable in our job.
The Dual Profession and One Team Concept includes all components of the Army, whether it is Active, Reserve or Guard soldiers.
As a member in the National Guard the idea of serving a dual mission to my State and the Nation is unique from my perspective. My first responsibility is to take care of the people I live around, essentially my community. Almost everyone has seen or maybe heard of Guard units helping different communities deal with the ongoing threat or aftermath of floods, tornadoes, hurricanes, snowstorms and other emergency situations. Also during times of civil disorder, social or political, the citizens of my state can be assured that their Guard force will be “Ready When Called”, if needed. The ability to give back to my own community and share what the Guard has done for me on a daily basis is a great feeling. Membership in the Guard has a positive influence on civilian jobs. As a paralegal in the guard for my state, I have acquired the skills and a certain level of leadership that is sought after by many civilian employers. Some guard soldiers find their civilian and military jobs complement each other, while others seek to add diversity to their lives and skills by serving in the Army National Guard in a capacity quite different than their civilian occupation. As a paralegal and soldier in the guard, both are part of the dual profession and one team concept. We are on the same team fighting the same
