It’s crucial to realize that good is rewarded throughout “Rikki-Tikki-Tavi”. The family saved Rikki during a flood and took very good care of him. In return, in the end Rikki ends up fighting for the family. Also, when Darzee warned Rikki about the cobra. If Darzee wouldn’t have told Rikki about the cobra he would have gotten defeated.
Rikki was also rewarded by being able to live in a house and get fed like a house pet. While reading the story you can’t help but to notice that evil is punished in this novel. Evil is punished towards the end when the cobra was acting stubborn towards the mongoose, but in the end the cobra had gotten defeated. There is also another way that evil was punished in the story. When Nagaina had crept up on Rikki as he was talking to attack while he was not paying attention, Rikki heard her savage hiss and the stroke had missed him. There is plenty of other ways evil is punished in the short story “Rikki-Tikki-Tavi” but I chose my own reasons! The alternate claim “Peace is worth fighting (or dying) for is not a good claim and here is why. If peace is worth dying for what would you have to live for? If you’re dead or dying there is no point. What would you do if you had kids, is it still worth dying for? I think this claim does not make any sense, because you are basically just fighting for death. Therefore it is not a good claim at all! I think that i have proven that Peace is not worth fighting (or dying) for! I am convinced that “Good is rewarded and evil is punished’ is the theme for the story Rikki-Tikki-Tavi and here is why. Have you ever done anything good for someone and do you remember being rewarded for it? I have experience which is why I think it’s a great theme for the story. My experience is when I helped someone when all of their papers and notebook fell out of their binder. In return they have always been nice to me and helps me when I need it. What do you think about the theme for this short story?
