I deserve this scholarship because i’m a hard working young lady. I strive for greatness and success. I’ve been through many things and many obstacles. Never have I let anything stand in the way of my education, there were many times I felt like giving up. I always recovered better than before.
Coming from a low income household, college wasn't really a big topic for many reasons. We struggled our whole lives. When I was 17 years old my family went through the toughest time and I realized I had to get a job ASAP! Being a full time student it was really tough working 36 to 42 hours a week. Trying to keep up with homework, college application, scholarships and trying to manage time with my one year old daughter, life
started to be overwhelming for me. As a single mother at the age of 19 many people expect me to drop out, or not go to college. I have a message to send to everyone who doubts teenage parents. I will not be put in that type of category. Therefore i’m working harder than ever to save up for college. One thing I always tell people about myself is that I work hard, harder than anyone around me.
So, to conclude this letter I deserve this scholarship for many reasons. What better young lady than myself. A hardworking, ambitious teenage mother who knows what she wants in life, who knows right from wrong and who will one day walk across Louisiana State University’s graduation stage. My ambition and struggle will take me all the way through college with more than a degree. I'm a very wise single mother. Help me make not only my future but my daughter's future as well better than what I experienced growing up.
