KSU Foundation Scholarship
I deserve to be selected for the KSU Foundation scholarship because I am dedicated to serving others and know how important it is to persevere. Having won an Air Force Junior ROTC national community service award in the 9th grade and having voluntarily completed over five hundred community service hours during my junior and senior years of high school, I want to continue on serving others in any capacity possible. When I engage in a community service project, I have the mindset to put my whole heart in it, making the most out of the experience. Through the values and ethics I have attained through FFA, I will continue to serve my community and world with my whole heart throughout my life. If I were selected to receive the Samsung American Legion Scholarship, I would use the money to further my education focusing in the subject of Agriculture. This scholarship would inspire…

Why I deserve to be considered for the South Central Border All-Academics Scholarship is an easy answer, because I plan on continuing to play sports in college including dance and maybe throwing the javelin. Most students would give a heart wrenching explanation, but I go on facts. Fact one; I will be continuing to participate in dance at college. Fact two; academics do not come easy to me and so I have to work extremely hard at it. Fact three; I will work extremely hard to make the school record in javelin by throwing 109 feet. Fact four; I will be a part of dance team in college to help pay for books and tuition in college because I can not afford college otherwise. I go on facts and do not believe in lying so I will tell you that dance and…

I believe that I am a strong candidate for the Social Justice Fellowship Program because I embody a commitment to social justice and I have been able to excel academically; earning a 3.745 cumulative G.P.A., full scholarship for my senior year, dean’s lists, honors and awards recognition, and being an active change maker through leadership and service. In 2013, I earned the President’s Bronze Standard award given to me by Honorable Mwai Kibaki, the third president of Kenya, for being a young person equipped with positive life skills and a change maker in my community, country, and globally. Despite having faced challenges in my life, including the socio-economic challenges of growing up in the slums of Kariobangi South in Nairobi, Kenya; where I saw my neighbors experience a cycle of poverty and helplessly watched as friends, close relatives, and other young girls dropped out of school due to teenage pregnancy and young men becoming criminals, I have excelled academically and achieved some of my goals. The most challenging experience due to my socio-economic status was during my sophomore college year when I learned that my cousin, who was a brother to me, had been a victim of a deadly armed robbery. This experience opened my eyes to the sacrifices I was making by pursuing a higher…
