What I could contribute to the Honors College is my commitment to hard work, diversity of thought, and the drive to succeed. While that may seem disingenuous, it is the simple truth that the best one can offer to others is to do their best. In today’s world, people have seem to have lost the yearning to strive to do their best, even when absolutely nothing goes their way. Dedication to interdisciplinary studies, dedication to my peers, and dedication to my community, is what I can contribute to the Honors…
I think I should be chosen to receive the TSMSDC scholarship it will not only just help offset my tuition and but also help me reach my goal. This scholarship will allow me an opportunity to attend a 4-year college of my choice, University of Tennessee Chattanooga. With the TSMSDC scholarship, I can reach my goal in becoming a chemical engineer. I enjoy math and science and this will be a lifetime privilege for me. The TSMSDC scholarship will be a great incentive to help me succeed. I will take advantage of this opportunity and I will reach my goal. Thank you in advance and I hope I am considered as a recipient of the TSMSDC scholarship.…
Throughout my four years of high school, I have consistently pushed myself beyond my limits and comfort zones in attempt to discover my place in the world. I spent most of first two years discovering who I was as an individual, ultimately manifesting into inspiration for success. I grew out of “fitting in” and decided to turn my life and aspirations towards a greater direction; on this road of discovery, I separated myself from those who valued arrogance and indifference. “Nerd Squad” is what I am a part of today, which is why I am currently confident enough to apply for the National Honors Society Scholarship. I believe I have grown into a tenacious, sympathetic, and joyous young man that the entire school has seen develop, and I am honored…
Why I deserve to be considered for the South Central Border All-Academics Scholarship is an easy answer, because I plan on continuing to play sports in college including dance and maybe throwing the javelin. Most students would give a heart wrenching explanation, but I go on facts. Fact one; I will be continuing to participate in dance at college. Fact two; academics do not come easy to me and so I have to work extremely hard at it. Fact three; I will work extremely hard to make the school record in javelin by throwing 109 feet. Fact four; I will be a part of dance team in college to help pay for books and tuition in college because I can not afford college otherwise. I go on facts and do not believe in lying so I will tell you that dance and…
A self-employed business man once said, “The best example of leadership is leading by example” (Jerry McClain). He describes a true leader, a pioneer whose morals and selflessness guide her to guide others. She is an inspiration, and a beacon of hope for all to follow. I share this passion for helping and guiding by example, and as a member of the National Junior Honor Society, I would seek to better the community just as I do every day inside and outside of the classroom.…
I deserve to be selected for the KSU Foundation scholarship because I am dedicated to serving others and know how important it is to persevere. Having won an Air Force Junior ROTC national community service award in the 9th grade and having voluntarily completed over five hundred community service hours during my junior and senior years of high school, I want to continue on serving others in any capacity possible. Receiving this scholarship would allow me to continue on the path to becoming a surgeon for Doctors Without Borders by assisting me financially, allowing me to have more time to serve my community when I otherwise would have been working to be able to afford to stay in college and complete my degree program. Finally, my work and volunteer…
The MHS Honor Society would benefit from my membership because I am involved in many activities, take challenging courses in school, and have been volunteering all of my life. I am involved in sports including cross country, track and field, and multiple intramurals. In cross country, there are no elected captains, but rather we are expected to step up and become leaders. I have stepped up and become a leader over the past couple of years. I have planned summer running, ran with my team to make them better, and also encouraged them all to do their best. I won the MVP and Jesse Citrowski Heart of the Tiger Award. I am also involved in other activities such as, knowledge bowl, which I was voted co-captain, Link Crew, Marshall ACTS, Tiger Activities…
I value commitment, persistence, integrity, and service. Throughout my life, I have witnessed how commitment and success are correlated. Through commitment, I have learned that I am able to accomplish short-term and long-term goals through hard work. Although commitment is inarguably important, it is also imperative to have persistence. I strongly believe that hands-on service, engagement and leadership opportunities for young people cultivate true leaders for world’s future. While I am studying at Florida Agricultural & Mechanical University, these values will be deeply instilled in me, and they will assist me in the activities that I will become involved in on campus and within the community.…
It is with great honor that I am applying for the Huston Family Scholarship awarded by the Huston family. By receiving this recognition I will be able to move quickly with my positive attitude and determination to work towards my career goal of being a English Teacher as well as a Director. I feel as though I am worthy to be considered due to my personal qualities of being kind, caring, understanding, patient and helpful. I have to use all these skills at my job, which I constantly move up in, and my involvement in school activities. I help tutor my friends in math and there is a noticeable difference in their grade. With the National Honor Society, I have done a lot of volunteer hours, all of which have taken patience, kindness, determination…
The National Honors Society is more than just a honor roll, but an organization that recognizes the efforts made by hard working high school students. I would like to join National Honors Society because it would challenge my development in both my community and my school. The National Honors Society, consisting of over one million students, would make me a part of a large community that could create many opportunities for me in the future. A highly respected organization such as the National Honors Society is very significant to me. The scholarships and programs offered by this organization helps increase my ability to get the education that I desire that I might not have been able to receive due to the rapidly rising costs of college. Every…
These lessons lead me to explain the reasons I deserve this scholarship. I not only have put forth a recommendable effort in my academic career, staying on the all A Honor roll and maintaining a 4.0 GPA all four years of high school. I have also acquired Perfect Attendance Awards for every school year I have been enrolled in. This past year, I was bestowed the honor of being named a 2010 Governors Scholar, along with being named a UCA All-American Cheerleader. Along with many other honors and awards, these are two that I am most proud of because they show that I am well-rounded and a very driven…
Being “great” like many other adjectives used to describe an individual is a subjective term. That means that great for one individual might not be great for another. This is similar to how successful for me would be to take care of my mother and father, while success for another would be to make a six figure salary a year. For me, being “great” is doing just that little bit more that separates you from the competition. A quote that I am reminded of is by Art Williams that says “The difference between average and ordinary is so small that it’s scary”. I wholeheartedly believe that he is write in saying this. A person can be successful at 99% of the things that they do in their lives and still not be great. However,…
Specifically, I played clarinet in the Concert and Symphonic bands and I played in the marching band. As such we marched in parades all across the west coast and were by far the loudest in cheering on the Roughriders at our football games. Additionally, in high school, I took part in Model United Nations and went to several conferences and discussed a wide variety of topics ranging from the International Drug Trade to Piracy. I also took part, in the summer of my Junior year, in the National Student Leadership Conference for International Diplomacy in Washington D.C. At this Conference, I attended classes, took part in a variety of simulations, attended leadership courses, visited historic landmarks and listened to lectures from a variety of organizations ranging from the Peace Corps to Monsanto. In summary, throughout my High School career and now in my College years I am an active participant on campus because I believe in learning and experiencing as much as possible when given the opportunity and being awarded this scholarship would help further my passion for…
Receiving a Phi Theta Kappa scholarship would mean a lot to me because it would be helping me to pay my education and besides it would be saving me from the pressure of student debt. It is very valuable for me because I have major goals in my career like going to the best engineering universities in the state. But a good and prestigious university is very expensive, over the budget and me nor my parents can afford it. So, before getting in debt with loans, the best option for me is to apply to scholarships. To get accepted according to my merit and accomplishments would be very fulfilling and inspiring and I would not disappoint those who believed and invested on me and continue working hard for my future.…
Hello friends. I deserve this scholarship because I own the paramount educational values that will guide me throughout my educational journey. I have a clear idea in mind of what I aspire to do with my life, and that makes everything much easier for me. Confidence is the best word to describe myself during this time of life. I go to a great school that I love, have amazing friends, and have been raised with parents who I want to make very proud. My academic goals include maintaining a 3.0 GPA for the rest of the three years I'm in school and earning an Exercise Science degree. From there, I plan to eagerly apply for jobs as I am tremendously excited about this degree and what it pertains. I am pursuing my passion, and that is what it is all about.…
