It became mandatory to break out of my shell when I became a cashier. Being a cashier is not as effortless as it sounds, but it has given me many beneficial skills for your program. Working eight full hours and associating with millions of people has personally provoked phenomenal communication skills for me. This occupation has forced me to deal with every kind of person that exists, and to slap a smile on my face and say, “Have a wonderful day!” with great enthusiasm no matter what the situation may be. I am a team player; I can work well in groups or individually. This is proven in my employee review and also in a lab I completed in my Chemistry course. Additionally, I have learnt how to provide information in an understood way. I am trusted to train employees, which entails me to explain how to do our job in a way for younger and older employees to understand. I am aware of all safety standards and I am certified in First Aid and WHMIS, which contributes to a safe work environment. I can also identify problems and seek different points of view and evaluate them based on facts. In my Biology course, we did an individual ethics assignment that displays that I have these skills. Lastly, it is very easy for me to balance work, school, and a social life.
