Becoming a dental doctor
Audience
This analysis is designed for possible pre-dental candidates with no prior knowledge of dental education.

Purpose/Definition

The purpose of this analysis is to inform possible pre-dental candidates with the proper knowledge of dental education as whole. Dental education is the training, education, and qualifications acquired by dental candidate in order, to make the transition to a practicing dental doctor under the state in which he or she is licensed.

Background

Dental education is consists of a pre dental phase and a post dental phase. The pre dental phase prepares candidates for advanced courses in the field of dentistry. Post dental works prepares candidates for practice in the field. To conclude the training candidates must pass a licensing examination for the state they wish to work in.

Precaution

Before enrolling in pre dental education, possible candidates should read, advise, and ascertain their selves thoroughly that dentistry is indeed the vocation of choice.

Who/When/Where

Any student in high school or any two-year college in any city, state within the U.S barriers can conduct this process.

Certain schools only require two years of pre-dental education. Pre-dental education varies in its curriculum. However, the core studies are usually similar and include; two semesters of general biology, two semesters of both organic chemistry and inorganic chemistry, two semester of physics, and one semester of advanced mathematics. The course listed above prepares candidates for a successful completion of advanced science courses at a dental institution and a passing score on the (DAT) Dental Admission

According to adha.org, " Dental hygienists in a clinical role assess, diagnose, plan, implement, evaluate and document treatment for prevention, intervention and control of oral diseases, while practicing in collaboration with other health professionals"(adha,2017). Education requirement is usually an associate's degree. Leaders throughout the dental industry often employ dental hygienists due to their clinical experience and understanding of dental practice. Next is public health as another optional career path. According to adha.org, " Community Health programs are typically funded by government or nonprofit organizations. These positions often offer an opportunity to provide care to those who otherwise would not have access to dental care. Examples of public health opportunities include a variety of roles and settings: Clinicians, Administrators, Researchers, State Public Health Officer, Community Clinic Administrator, Indian Health Service, Head Start programs, Local health departments, National Health Service Corps, School sealant programs, and Rural or inner city community clinics"(adha,2017).
