If Elementary, Middle School and High School are free, how come College isn’t?
More than two-thirds of Americans think college should really be free just like it was a century ago (NBCNEWS.com). Now the cost of attending college is just too high, many students can’t afford it (NYTIMES.com). Students that didn’t have the chance to go to college said that college should be for everyone, because everyone has a dream or a goal.(ThinkAdvisor.com)
It also would really help the economy if more students go to college and get stable jobs that require knowledge that is provided from more than High School. (American Progress.com)

Opponents of free college education believe that “it would simply be too expensive for the federal and state government to sustain for a long-term. As a result, Americans would have to start paying higher taxes, that would only hurt the economy more since people would have less money to spend”.(NEA.com)
Some people are also worry that if students get college free, they may as well stop taking education seriously since they won’t have to pay for it. So the number of graduates may drop or students may graduate without being prepared for the workforce. In addition it would also benefit people with money that certainly don’t need it (NEA.com). Brian Wesbury, the chief economist at First Trust Advisors, is against the free college idea, saying “that it would ultimately raise costs through simple supply-and-demand economics.”(CNW.org)
All Americans have the right to believe whether free college education is a good idea or not, but we have to have in mind that it would help the future generations ahead of us, it would not only help economically but morally . But do we really want all Americans to have the same opportunities to reach their goals and dreams? That’s what the U.S is supposed to be about, however the mobility between poor and middle has been eroding, and if there is not affordable access to higher education, the intelligence and the goodwill of the whole country may as well erode.
