Freshmen Mistakes
It is known for Freshmen students in high school to make mistakes. The important thing about making those mistakes, is learning from it. Being a Freshmen could be a challenge. One out of three students drop out of school. I will not be one of those students. I’ve had help along the way from when I began high school. It’s a huge adjustment from middle school. Middle school is much smaller than a high school. I knew I would have some issues with finding my classes. I had this problem in the beginning of my seventh grade year, and my freshmen year. It got easier as I walked to my classes every other day. My mother has a huge impact on my life. She has faced so many challenges in her life, and she’s amazing for it. My mother, had to stop going to college because she got pregnant with my sister. How many to be mothers would drop out of college just to take care of their new born baby? Not many. Some might have their mothers watch their child, but my mother, Patty, she wanted to spend time with us, rather than go to school. She worked a lot while I was growing up. My older sister would take care of me and my brother. …show more content…
She would always have to watch us. I felt bad, I knew how much my sister rather be with her friends than be babysitting. I enjoyed the time I had with my sister. She was like my mother, since our mom was busy working. We all depended on my mother. She was the only one supporting us. She had no time for herself, but never once did she blame us for her being in this situation. My mother, has been a mentor to me. She knew about me having AP classes, and she would always tell me, “Brianna you’re going to be okay. You’re a smart girl.” She made me have the full faith in myself that I have today. Without my mom, I probably would have dropped out of the classes, so I could have a regular

In the ending of junior year I started messing up and my grades were going down so my mom got worried and decided to move into a new school since she thought my friends were a bad influence. The other reason why I moved to San Fernando High was because its my home school. My biggest challenge I faced starting at San Fernando was if the classes were hard and the classes were big. The worst part of facing a new school was finding the right friends and not being able to do good in school. I overcame this challenge by telling my self everything is going to be okay and just focous in shool.…

As junior year is slowly coming to an end I couldn’t be more happy and more excited to begin senior year. Although junior year has probably been the most stressful and overwhelming year, it has still been one of the most enjoyable thus far. This year has helped me grow so much more, and has helped me in becoming a better VISA student than I was the previous years. I feel as if this year I have come a long way; as a underclassmen the previous years I didn’t much see the value my grades truly were until this year. All the projects, test, classworks, and notebook checks has definitely made me become a responsible student and has taught me the lesson to not procrastinate. Not only have I learned this year to actually pay attention in class and…

The transition from one level of schooling to the next is very hard for me the first year. In my life the hardest was from elementary school to middle. In Florida fifth grade was technically the end of elementary school, but my elementary school was a magnet school so it ended at 6th grade which I thought was the worst idea. The same year I began seventh grade is the same year I moved to a different city because of the city I moved into I thought school was going to be piece of cake. But little did I know that I had a rough road ahead of me. This mentality was the wrong one to start off with because not only did I have to focus on school, I also had to make new friends. Those two tasks got twisted in my head and caused the problem to happen in the first place.…

The first day of high school was soon approaching and I could not stop thinking about how I will be feeling when I step foot onto Arvin High School. Summer vacation seemed too short and I definitely wasn’t ready for the start of freshmen year. Shortly after I was telling myself, “I can’t wait to get out of here!” I knew that my decision to be here today would help me in the long run for my career, but I had no motivation.…

It was hard for me to transition through freshman year with more classes and more classrooms to go to. Also with more older and intimidating students. Though many freshman usually are nervous in their first year of high school, some were already acquainted with the upperclassmen and had in no time made many friends. Though I wasn't looking for friends, I saw how they were all so comfortable being shown around the school and other things of the nature. Besides being nervous of my first year, I also seemed to have taken lightly of my classes and just floated through without trying. I got either one or two F's in different courses throughout my four quarters and I vowed to myself to strive for better within my sophomore year.…

There are many people that have had an impact on my life and influenced me in many different ways. My mother, however, has had the biggest impact on my life, and influenced me more than anyone else. She has had an impact on me since the day I was born, and she still does today. Before I could even talk, I am sure she had an impact on me by the way she took care of me as an infant. My mother has always been a Christian. That has influenced me throughout my whole life. Even though my mother did not see it, she did have an influence on me throughout my high school years also. As a baby, my mother had an impact on me. I was little, but I know she still did. When I would cry, she would come and see what I needed. She would change my diaper if it needed changed, or she would feed me if that is what I wanted. If there was something else wrong with me, she would definitely find it out. She would not stop trying until I stopped crying. If my mother had left me in my crib crying for hours, I would have realized soon that she probably did not really care about me. When I got a little older,…

I have determined not to repeat the same mistakes by not using the resources available for me to achieve high marks. I sought help diligently from my tutors and professors, realizing that I was not the only student in my class who seek help. They helped me realize that it was normal to know your limits and seek help from those who have a deeper knowledge of the subject. From talking with my tutors and friends, I learned that I was not alone in this journey. The culture of helping others and receiving help is valuable. Through my high school and community college journey, I learned to not only use the resources available around me but to also contribute to the community, especially to those that have gone through the same challenges as…
