Gender Pay Gaps
In the UK today, the gender pay gap between men and women is 9.4 %. It has been illegal for 45 years and yet is still commonplace among businesses.
Some of you may be wondering, what is the pay gap?
The gender pay gap is defined as the relative difference in the average gross hourly earnings of women and men within the economy as a whole. This means that in some professions, men get more money than women for the same work. How can this be fair? We are in the 21st Century, and yet we still discriminate, based on gender. Globally this has to be stopped.
In response to public demand, in 2015 the government forced companies to publish their gender pay gaps, with the aim of reducing it. It worked, if only slightly, going down from 9.6% to 9.4%.

    And yes; it does exist. It may seem quite startling but there are people out there who endlessly deny the existence of the pay gap. Their defence usually consists of some feeble argument stating that women are too busy popping out children and staying at home, backed up by statistics claiming that only 56% of women work full time. Aside from obvious sexism, these accusations fail to account for the fact that there is an average of 15% a wage difference when a man and a woman do exactly the same job.
