The Myers-Briggs personality type test is one of most used and respected psychological assessments. It contains 16 different personality types and is suppose to represent all the different types of personalities in the world. It is not uncommon for businesses, government jobs and other institutions to incorporate the test to see whether an individual would fit into the culture and atmosphere of the company. According to the test, I am a ESTJ (Extravert(31%), Sensing(1%), Thinking(28%), Judging(28%)), which matched some famous people such as John D. Rockefeller. I was surprised by how accurate the description of the suggested personality style matched my own.…

Taking the Myers Briggs test I scored a type ISTJ and was named a Trustee, meaning that I was more introverted, sensing, thinking, and judging than my mate although similar with a type ISFJ and names conservator tying between introverted and extroverted,…
There are many people in the world today. With each person comes a different personality and personality type. Each individual has different things that contribute to thier personalities and their attitudes. I recently had the pleasure of interviewing a man names James R. Dortch Jr. He is 27 years old about 5'7 and weighs about 148 pounds. He is white non-Hispanic and from Fresno California. He is currently a staff sergeant in the United States Army. I had the pleasure of asking him some questions about his personality and his attitudes. In this paper we are going to explore his answers and compare them to my own answers to the same questions.…
The psychoanalytic theory states that there are inner forces other than your awareness that affect your behavior. Sigmund Freud, Alfred Adler and Carl Jung influenced psychology with their theories making a very large impact on psychology. As the writer I will compare and contrast the theories of these three gentlemen and decide which of these theories in which I agree and which of these theories I do not agree with.…
Is a person’s behavior analyzed by the situation they are in or is their behavior guided by their personality? For instance, if an individual who is usually calm and mellow turns aggressive during a sports game, is it safe to say that the aggressive behavior is a result of the sport or is that part of his personality? This can be either or. Behavior can be understood by the person’s personality as well as the environments that they are put in, when the situation they are in changes their personality changes to accommodate the situation, this can be classified as situational behavior. The dispositional theory tries to identify psychological…
After completing the Myers-Briggs Personality Type Assessment I discovered that my personality type is ISTJ, and this type makes up about 12% of the U.S. population. ISTJ stands for Introversion, Sensing, Thinking and Judging. I agree with the personality type that was chosen for me. After reading the report about the description of ISTJ, I think that my personality and preferences were outlined great. I am realistic, organized, reasonable, and consistent. I also know what works and doesn’t work based on past experiences and facts. When it comes to others I do often show that I care through actions more than using words.…
The most salient aspect of my personality is being an introvert. I feel that I am introverted because I enjoy spending my time alone, doing quiet activities such as reading and interacting with people over social media. I am not a “party” person. However, I will go to a party, but I won’t necessarily enjoy my time there; I will usually leave early and in most cases I will leave with a headache. Although I do not enjoy spending time with large groups of people, I am the most comfortable while being with a small and close group of friends. However, I am not an extremely serious person, I am quite laid back, and although…
This week we began learning more about our own personality type through the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator assessment. I am a ISFJ. According to Kummerow and Hirsh (1998), this means I am an introvert who prefers to take in information using my five senses, base my decisions on personal and social values, and like a planned and organized approach to the outside world (pg. 1).…
My personality type is INTJ. I am 78% introvert, 25% intuitive, 12% thinking, and 56% judging, (www.humanmetrics.com, 2011). I found the test to be accurate and agreed with the results. Introverts are perfectionists that have a high level of confidence. Most introverts are logical thinkers that open their minds to all possibilities. “INTJs are ideal people. They think anything is possible and everything is negotiable, (www.humanmetrics.com, 2011). I possess this introvert quality. I believe that there are always exceptions to rules.…
There was no way a seventy question test where you can only select between the letters “A” and “B” could possibly tell me how I am, how I feel, and how I react to certain experiences. The test made me choose between two extremes. Therefore, allowing me to think I would receive one of the two extreme personalities. After obtaining the results, I was very surprised on how everything matched with me to a tee. It was as if someone already knew my path of life from knowing my own personality and how I experience the world; I tested as ISFJ. The letter “I” stands for introverted; Characteristics of an introvert are being quiet, thinking before acting, and being self motivated. When it comes to social interaction I do tend to be very shy and keep to myself. I am always asked “why are you so quiet?” when I am out with a group of people or in a class. I, also, over think or analyze every detail before I do or say anything; especially, when it comes to school work. Nothing drives me more nuts then having to do a school project because I make sure everything is okay or a least decent to be handed in. The next letter, “S”, stands for Sensing which means someone who is practical, realistic, remembers tones of voices or facial expressions, respects facts, etc. I thought it was really interesting how the test results told me I remember greatly tones of voices or facial expressions because I have a hard time remembering someone’s name but, if I were to see their face or hear their voice I can easily remember who that person is. I am very practical when it comes to work or to school. I do things for the matter of doing them because I have to and I never really question the reasoning or purpose behind it. The letter “F” stands for feelings. This means generally someone who is a people pleaser and is unsettled by conflict. I try my hardest to make everyone happy and positive, when I feel the slightest negativity coming from the person around me I tend to blame myself. I…
First I took the personaily test that stated that my personality type is ENTJ. For me to obtain an understanding of my personality type, it is important for me to develop an interpretation of the meaning of ENTJ. Briefly, the ‘E’ refers to Extroversion (vs. Introversion), which means that I am outgoing and tend to focus on the outer world of people and things. The ‘N’ refers to Intuitive (vs. Sensing), which means my interests lie in relationships, and I focus on the future with a view towards patterns and possibilities. The ‘T’ refers to Thinking (vs. Feelings), which means I tend to base decisions primarily on thinking things through instead of emotions. The ‘J’ refers to Judging (vs. Perceptive), which means I prefer to approach life in a more planned and organized manner and like to have things settled. On an overall perspective, as an EFTJ, I am a warm, empathetic, responsive, and responsible person. I am highly attuned to the emotions, needs, and motivations of others. I look to find potential and good in everyone, and I enjoy helping others to fulfill their potential. I can be a catalyst for individual and group growth, as I am loyal and responsive to praise and criticism. I am sociable, a good facilitator to others in a group and can provide inspiring leadership.…
When people speak of someone having a personality they usually think of out an outgoing person or an abrasive person who can command attention. It is also usually stated in society that a quiet introverted person lacks a personality In psychology personality is defined as being made up of the characteristic patterns of thoughts, feelings and behaviors that make a person unique. SO with that being said it can be concluded that everyone person has a personality from the most loud and boisterous person to the most quite and meek person. In this paper I will describe the personality perspectives, how personality develops, and finally how personality can be assessed. There are 4 perspectives that can be used to describe how a personality is shaped.
