He also thrives to help people even if it's with school work, personal problems, or on the basketball court. Sense the age of twelve years old, Ive been apart of the James Island Charter High-school Track and Cross country team. For the past five years, I've developed inseparable bonds and life long skills that have helped me develop important morals in my life. This year, my senior year of high school; I chose to tell my parents, coaches, and teammates that I wouldn't be competing for our team this year and that I wasn't running cross country. As a five year varsity letterman and athlete, making the decision to not run cross country was pretty emotional and painful. The decision to not compete and to pause my athletic career for three months all started from me interviewing seniors for media tech (our schools news network).…

Middle school was both exciting and frightening. It was exciting because I was able to switch classes and it made me feel older, however it was frightening because I had to impress more than one teacher and adjust to their teaching methods. The first day of middle school was different because that year my father could not see me off to school. My father died unexpectedly a few weeks before my first day of middle school which only added to the stress. Overall my first day was still pretty exciting because I knew I was going to meet new people. I was excited to see some of my old friends in the same class with me. I thought the work was going to harder since I was older, but it was not much different from elementary.…

It was very nerve wracking for me the first couple of days- I was taking 7 different classes, taking the school bus for the first time ever, and just meeting so many different people; it took a couple of weeks to get used to, but I really liked it. I’d could say I enjoyed middle school just a little more than high school. Being a “social butterfly” I didn’t have the slightest problem in making new friends, so there came back my “popularity"- like I had in elementary school. What also came back from elementary school was my attitude towards teachers and school work. Again I wouldn't misbehave or break the rules, but If someone would give me an attitude or scold me I would give the attitude right back… and that sometimes would give me a detention or a talk with a counselor. I had to stop the attitude sometimes and bite my tongue, because I was a cheerleader for the school’s team. Being on the team meant I was representing the squad and the school, so I always had to be on my best behavior and do the best I could to have a good GPA to stay on the…

Middle school is awesome! In the transition from elementary to middle school, it can be tough, but you will make it! One major change is having six new teachers with different rules. For example, Mrs. Provost lets you listen to any school appropriate music, Mrs. Buggy only lets you listen to Josh Groban, and some teachers don’t let you listen to music at all! Teachers have a lot of differences, but they also have a lot in common too!…
