Gun Control Violates The Second Amendment
The Bill of Rights recognizes and protects the citizens of America's’ natural, basic rights. What happens when the rights that the government are supposed to be protecting, begin to be ignored? Fourteen words protect all of our guaranteed rights as citizens of the united states-“...the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.” That is why gun control violates the second amendment.
“By restricting gun ownership only to law enforcement officers and the military, the government violates individuals’ rights to possess firearms that they might need to defend their basic freedoms.” When the Founding Fathers wrote the Bill of Rights they knew that giving the government our guns would be the equivalent of tearing the constitution in half. Guns are the only things that protect our rights. It’s what gives the people power, and it’s also what protects people.
“Between Friday night and Sunday evening(May 2-4 2014), 28 people had been shot in Chicago. Which...shows an improvement over the previous weekend, which tacked on more than 40 gunshot victims to the city's climbing statistics.” Chicago has one of the most strict gun laws in The United States, the entire city is a gun control utopia. It only benefits criminals and the people who want to hurt the average citizen. Above all gun control ignores the second amendment. The solution to all of this is gun freedom, for guns to be bought, advertised, and sold like any other product. Most importantly for there to be no special taxes of guns and ammunition. A prime example that this works is Iceland. They are ranked 15th on the global list of gun ownership rates. Violent crimes are basically nonexistent in Iceland, in 2009 they only had four deaths that involved guns. Iceland is living proof that gun freedom

    Gun control has been on the forefronts of debate since the 1960’s when there were some high profile shootings. The increase of gun violence since the 1980’s has just increased the argument over who should be allowed to own and carry weapons.
