Senioritis is commonly known around all high schools. According to the Merriam Webster, this term means an ebbing of motivation and effort by school seniors as evidenced by tardiness, absences, and lower grades. Senioritis is also considered a psychotic disorder. This word is not an actual sickness or disease in high school seniors, it’s just laziness because they’re getting close to the end.
History
According to the Senioritis blog, senioritis is mostly common in the western cultures, and it affects people in the ages of 17-18, and it equally effects both female and male.
James Coleman wanted to change the high school curriculum to help senioritis, in 1974 one high school tried out the “senior semester.” The Senior Semester was created to help “senioritis,” it is a seminar that focuses on what the students like, so they don’t get bored. What Senioritis looks like
Senioritis usually hits during your last year of high school.
During this you get lazy, you are tardy, you skip school, and you get lower grades. Many seniors get lazy, and fed up with school, so they decide to skip it and have a beach day instead, or they just say screw it and stop caring. Senioritis can last they whole school year, but is commonly set in after the winter break, when all of the college applications are in. Senioritis is “cured” by graduation.
What senioritis results in
Senioritis can result in lack of preparation for the freshman year of college, and it results in colleges taking back their offer for you to go to their school. It can also affect your financial aid.

How to Avoid
To avoid senioritis, the Huffington post says to set small goals, improve study habits, and to take a small break. Setting goals is to get someone thing done early so you can get feedback. Improving your study habits can be a lot, it can mean you need to study longer or harder, or try a different method. Your senior year can be pretty stressful, so taking a break every now and then to avoid senioritis definitely helps.
