Honors Program Research Paper
Being in the honors program would be advantageous to my academic experience. This program is highly prestigious on campus because students must satisfy certain requirements to enroll and stay in the program. With the opportunities offered in the program, it is easy to see why many students would want to take part in it. This program opens many doors and opportunities that otherwise be inaccessible to students. The Honors program will affect students for the rest of their life in a positive way. It will not only affect them in college but after as well. The honors program teaches students much-needed skills and gives them many opportunities t hat many students would and will miss out on because they are not in this program. To me the program …show more content…
The program teaches students how to create an e-portfolio that can help them obtain a job or easier acceptance into a four-year college. Knowing how to 'sell' yourself and your worth to other people is important. Many people have a difficult time making that connection. Questions asked in interviews are created in a certain way so the interviewer can get a feel for what the person has to offer. Many people are apprehensive to go into an interview for fear that they won't do well. DMACC has opportunities for students to have a mock interview in the library to try to help students prepare for interviews. I would expect that the honors program would mention in the class while making the e-portfolio on how to do well in interviews and how to tell about your achievements that will appeal to those who are asking. Even if they did not talk about interviews, getting help in creating an e-portfolio will still help give the student a chance to get the position they are looking for. These portfolios are created to get a feel for what the person has to offer and many places see the portfolio first and meet the person second. Having a well put together portfolio could potentially be what helps you get your foot in the door to a job or for a

The Genre: You’re familiar with the book and movie reviews that appear in newspapers, magazines, and websites. They are just one kind of evaluative writing, but from them we can identify the key components of the genre. First, there is the object to be evaluated. Often this is a single thing—a music CD, a scholarly study, a corporation—but it can also be an idea or process: the impact of a particular band on rock history, the importance of a new trend in scholarly opinion, or the management practices used by a particular sector of industry. Second, there are the criteria…

The late 1800s and early 1900s, during the era of post Emancipation, the United States was a period of identity exploration, enlightenment, and empowerment, as well as interdivision, discrimination, and adaptation for the African American peoples. Social revolutionists like Marcus Garvey and role modeled entrepreneurs like Madam CJ Walker were among the many blacks that influenced the national black community during their time of struggle and search for societal and economical direction. Walker and Garvey both strived for the advancement of their people, but had different long term effects on blacks and plans for the future. Walker’s use of Eurocentric ideals to beautify Black features socially and economically carried her higher than any woman, let alone black woman, in the business world. Her use of advertisements created a standard of black beauty in America that would gain acceptance. Garvey’s efforts to create a movement glorifying Afrocentric culture and lifestyle resulted in criticism from his own people and federal attention. These historical figures in the African American community were a part of a long lasting conflict of identity within the black race and the continuation of developing a black American culture completely different than African culture, creating a disparity between what it means to be African and African American.…

I graduated from Moanalua High School with an Honor Diploma because I reached the requirements and I also did Senior Project. To me, Senior Project helped me choose what I really want to become in the future, which is to become a Pediatric Neurologist. By taking Senior Project, I got to shadow my Pediatric Neurologist doctor and learn what he does for a living and what made him want to become who is now. In Hawaii, there are only five Pediatric Neurologist in total, counting my doctor, in the State of Hawaii. What made me want to become a Pediatric Neurologist is to help children that are in need, and I wanted to add numbers to the doctors in Hawaii. When I was 18, my family took a trip to Cancun for Spring Break. I absolutely loved the beaches and palm trees, the white sand, hot sun and blue waves. Ever since then I have had a real passion for tropical islands. My favorite and perhaps the most beautiful Islands I've researched are the Cayman Islands. I've only seen pictures and heard stories but I've already decided that's where I am getting married. I still however, don't know anything about the islands. My love for these islands and my thirst for knowledge on the topic has driven me to do more research and find out the history behind the Cayman Islands. I want to know everything about them, so far the only thing I know is that there are three islands, Grand…

Honors Study Hall is a highly debated topic within Wild Rose High School. People talk about where it should be held, who should be in it, and even if we should have it in the first place. This year our school decided to take honors study hall from the cafeteria and place it in the library. This was a bad idea because instead of changing the location, the subject in which should change is the people who are allowed to be in honors study hall.…

I have had many dreams about my future and where I would go in life. In all my dreams I do in fact attend graduate school. This is so because I would like to attain a job that requires more than just a four year degree, so that I may receive a high paying salary. The benefits from an advanced degree are numerous. I would like to obtain an advanced degree because unlike undergraduate school, graduate school is more of a narrower field of study. The schooling may be more difficult and more work but I do think it will pay off in the end.…

' The release is infinitely bright people and creature endless darkness is people.' Like Jean Valjean, he is the complete opposite of M. & Mme. Thénardier. My favorite character is Jean Valjean in the novel. In his early days, he had been in jail for 19 years. After Valjean left the jail, he met Bishop Myriel, this priest is the only person who take him in and changed him. I really comprehend in a sinful society, there still have a lot kind and amicable people. 'Giving, is the tangible happiness in this world.' Therefore, we can give what we can ——free comfort, regard, and care.…
