One way Anne has changed throughout the play is being able to control her energy. In the beginning Anne was very energetic and clumsy. It one scene she knocked over a glass of milk onto Mrs. Van Daan’s fur coat. “Now look what you’ve done...you clumsy little fool.” Says Mrs. Van Daan. It was then that she realized how hyper she behaved. From that point on Anne worked on expressing herself in less foolish ways. This shows that she learned from her mistake and was able to change into a more self-aware person. When she was in hiding she always had big ideas but knew that since she was in hiding, she couldn't do them. She always said “I’m going to Paris... to study music and art.” After she received a diary from her dad, it all changed. She was writing every day and decided she wanted to become a journalist. Writing in the diary gave her a different outlook on being in hiding. It meant she had something constructive to occupy her time with. Before she received the diary, Anne attempted to entertain people in loud and obnoxious ways. Now all she had to do to entertain someone was read them a story she had written.
