Inquiry-Target Child Observation
Inquiry- Target child is emerging in this skill set. Z is only beginning to recognize experiences and draw scientific conclusions from exploration. I observed playing at the water table, watching what the ice cubes did when in contact with his skin, and the room temperature. Z melting the ice cubes into water, and pouring the water onto the non-melted ice. In addition, I’ve observed Z make predictions about science experiments. Z has not shown signs of problem solving curiosity. Also, I have not seen Z communicate his learning/discovery through observation. Z would share experiences if prompted, but he is not advanced enough in inquiry to make such efforts.

    I observed a child throwing a fit at the mall the other day. This child did not want to leave the store and did not want to get into her stroller. She started to throw her head back and scream very loudly. Then she would throw her arms around and kick, in an attempt to not be strapped in.
