I observed a child throwing a fit at the mall the other day. This child did not want to leave the store and did not want to get into her stroller. She started to throw her head back and scream very loudly. Then she would throw her arms around and kick, in an attempt to not be strapped in. The mother started to yell at her daughter to stop while trying to strap her in. After a few minutes of the child kicking and screaming she was able to strap her in. But the child continued to scream, this was when the mother decided to leave the mall. My recommendation is that instead of trying to force the child into the stroller the parent could have held the child. I help children develop cognitive skills by encouraging them to hypothesis and try things out. In my classroom I allow the children to explore toys and objects on their own. I ask open-ended questions to allow them to think critically and imaginatively. Singing, One-to-One Correspondence, Classifying, creating things, and identify items objects gives the child opportunity to discover the purpose for the require skills. The purpose of this observation was to analysis a preschool age child between the ages of 3-5 on their social and emotional development using “California Preschool Learning Foundation Volume 1: Social and Emotional” and “Desired Results Developmental Profile – preschool.” (DRDP) The child was observed for one hour in two locations at three different settings. The child I am observing (Child N), is a five-year six-month old boy who attends a public school located in the West Village area of Manhattan. He is classified as being speech impaired. As per classroom teachers, he is bright in the sense that there are some tasks he is able to complete without verbal cues such as sorting, and an inquisitive child in the sense that shows interest in new things and people. My first day he stared at me nearly the entire time I was in the class. He demonstrates delays in most areas of development. I believe the most challenging aspect about this particular position is investigating a facility due to the allegations reported and properly documenting. When investigating a facility, one must be aware of their surroundings and properly multi-task because an investigation may involve talking to multiple individuals while receiving documents and presenting presenting facts. The main focus is to secure the child in that particular environment, by following all policies and procedures of the agency. This appeal to me because I've had a personal experience of child care negligence. On November 6th, I observed a four year-old boy at the UCI Early Childhood Education Center. My observation starts at 4:10pm, and it lasts for thirty minutes. At the time I did the observation, all of the children woke up from the nap time and started to play outside of the classroom. The playground is at least seventy-five square feet, and it has many play stations for children. Three classrooms share the same outside playground, and the age groups of those children are from three years old to five years old. All of the children could access to the outside playground through the back door in their classrooms. I observed children at ABC Child Development Center in the 3 year old classroom on March 1, 2010 from 8am until 11am. The classroom had a very diverse composition in the classroom, Hispanic, African American, Caucasian, Native American, and Asian (Vietnamese). In addition to diversity the ABC child development focus on maintaining a child centered environment that allows children to learn at their own pace. The classroom had 2 teachers and 24 children in attendance during the observation. The classroom has blue walls and displays of the children’s artwork around the room for Saint Patrick's Day and also spring. The classroom had 8 centers for learning and activities. It was playtime for the one year old boy. There were all sorts of toys. The playroom was very small. There was a huge toy chest full to the top with toys. On the wall there was a body length mirror. This was the little boys favorite place to play. He would also play with some of the other toys like blocks, cars, stuffed animals and other things. On September 14th, 2015 I observed a classroom at Weslie Way Preschool. The preschool classroom consisted of six students, but only five of them were present on the day that I did my observation. The group consisted of two girls and three boys that were all four years old. Later on in my observation, a firefighter came to talk to the students about fire safety. During this time period, all of the classes in the school gathered together outside. I was able to observe thirty students, all of which were different ethnicities between the ages of two and five.…
I observed Mr. Dave’s pre-k class at Montclair pre-school. I arrived at the classroom at 8:00 am to accessed the classroom as well to speak to Mr. Dave. We reviewed the day’s plan as I helped him clean up. While cleaning around the room I noticed how colorful the room was. There were: banners of letters and numbers hanging on the wall, as well as a large alphabet carpet on the floor for the kids to sit on, toys to play with and books to read. As the children arrived, they removed their belongings and placed them in the cubbies. Afterwards, they grabbed their name tags and set their lunchboxes on the lunchbox table.
